its not all about just playing with the likely winners.
teams have proven that they can upset the odds (Greece) but these smaller nations still need to be taken seriously and you still need to play well to beat them.

It's the facking world cup.
It's not determined by who has the ability to win.
A lot of countries will never win the 3,000m steeplechase but we don't deny them entry to the Olympics.
This is the WORLD CUP. Not the those who can win it cup.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeah but then you get a bunch of faaack wads who say - who have England/France/Brazil/Argentina actually played/beaten.
Argentina are in the quarters courtesy of beating faaaacking Australia.
It’s too much now, all those diddy teams get the chance to play in the World Cup - that’s what qualifying is for, we shouldn’t be seeing Cape Verde vs The Faroe Islands in a World Cup finals - it dilutes the product

The record will play no part, nor will France’s 2 World Cup wins or Englands spirit of 66. I was just confirming to Barry that he was again factually incorrect - although Knowing Barry he just made the whole thing up.

well the comment i spoke on was you replying to Silver
When is the last time England beat France in a competitive match? When is the last time England won a tournament? For France it was literally the last world cup with a lot of the same players. This makes no difference at all? Real Madrid winning the CL last season, their experience had nothing to do with it?

The last time we beat France competitively was 1997, the last time they beat us competitively was 2004.
The last tournament England won was Le Tournoi in 1997 - where we beat France.
England have won the last 2 Quarter finals we have been in - both in 90 mins. However, I dont think that experience will help us this time round.
Do I think the French will be haunted by their 2020 rd16 exit to Switzerland - even though they could have drawn on the memory of winning the World Cup a couple of years before hand. Possibly

We got further than Scott land
Unfortunately Beckham had an involuntary muscle twitch in his leg meaning it flicked just as Diego Simeone walked past. The ref had no choice but to cheat England out of the World Cup. The lads got home and were immediately bombarded by their Scottish team mates “knock out football, what is that actually like”
25 years of hurt, hopefully all gone come Sunday 18th December

It's the facking world cup.
It's not determined by who has the ability to win.
A lot of countries will never win the 3,000m steeplechase but we don't deny them entry to the Olympics.
This is the WORLD CUP. Not the those who can win it cup.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeah but then you get a bunch of faaack wads who say - who have England/France/Brazil/Argentina actually played/beaten.
Argentina are in the quarters courtesy of beating faaaacking Australia.
It’s too much now, all those diddy teams get the chance to play in the World Cup - that’s what qualifying is for, we shouldn’t be seeing Cape Verde vs The Faroe Islands in a World Cup finals - it dilutes the product

as things stand England are 4th favourites to win it.
Brazil - 1st
Argentina - 2nd
France - 3rd
England - 4th
FWIW I have France down as favourites and Brazil and England down as joint 2nd favourites.
Id say now is a decent time to get the money on England winning it if you didnt prior to tournament starting
----------------------------------------------------------------------
England were 2nd favourites going into the tournament. They were joint favourites last week after beating Wales.

England have beaten France once in the past 50 years. In a friendly with a full strength England team against a weakened France team.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Our head to head record with France is
Played: 31
England win: 17
France win: 9
Draw: 5
In the last 50 years:
Played: 13
England win: 4
France win: 6
Draw: 3
Considering they have won 2 world cups and a Euros over the last 50 years I would say our record is decent
----------------------------------------------------------------------
its not record that scream to me that England should beat them though. Thats a record that says to me that the current champions have just as much chance (if not slightly more) of beating England not the other way around.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The record will play no part, nor will France’s 2 World Cup wins or Englands spirit of 66. I was just confirming to Barry that he was again factually incorrect - although Knowing Barry he just made the whole thing up.

It’s almost like the bookies odds change.
If we beat France (which we should in my opinion) then England will go joint favourites with Braaaaaaaazil

Nope but odds pushing out are affecting France too with the realisation that one of them has to go.
