Feel bad for Kane.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Why? I don’t.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Likeable fella who’s going to get tonnes abuse now.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Genuinely think it came down to the psychology of the second penalty situation. I was surprised Lloris dived the way he did for the first, so Kane probably felt there was no way he’d do that again for the second, and that piles the pressure on even more.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Just said similar on another thread
Should be another taker with so much on it
Takes away the pressure of not knowing it should go the same way or not
Poor bloke will get pelters now and he is genuinely a good guy
----------------------------------------------------------------------
We’ve just got nobody as good though. Easy to say, but a pile-driver down the middle might have been the best option as Lloris was probably going to dive.

Problem with another taker, and he misses, and everyone would be saying why didn't Kane take it. Kane is the penalty takers, and to my knowledge no penalty taker scores everytime they take them.

Against a keeper who trains and works with him every day though ..... id have wanted someone else to take it, but captains lead by example.
Thought England were the better team second half and most likely to win it. But it seems like time and time and time again, when the chance is there, the chance to equalise or win the game, England muck it up. Every time! It's must be infuriating if you're english. I do want to finally see England win something but when the memes and the jokes start flying straight after the game, I have to laugh
Kane done his team mates a favour by carrying this defeat as some of them would have bottled the inevitable penalty shootout.
If Haaland had chosen to play for the country of his birth, England would be in the semis.

This England team over Southgates reign has been decent at beating poor teams, failed most of the time against good teams.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Hasn't it been like that for England for about 20 years...if not more?
Didn’t someone say supporting England is like supporting Spurs

We were the better team against the World Champions. It came down to a couple of big moments. They took theirs better. That’s it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
And that's the difference.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Of course it is. Bit usually when we’ve lost - including against Croatia four years ago and when Italy last year - we’ve not been good enough overall. We were pretty good tonight. Don’t know what some people were watching.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It's progress, I suppose.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
England were the better team. Two moments changed the game: Maguire’s failure to mark Giroud properly and Kane’ horrible penalty kick.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
France have a winning mentality which shows in the key moments–something England have to develop.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Some might call it a winning mentality, others would call it backbone. I watched England win the World Cup in 1966 - since then, they’ve had 56 years to rediscover a winning mentality, to no avail. In that time I’ve learnt to have zero expectations, so I’m never disappointed.
