After Cazorla and Alexis, he is probably the best Emirates signing
That 15/16 season, it was cazorlas injury that ruined our title challenge. Wenger only signing cech in that summer transfer window cost him big time.
Did we sign anyone in the winter window?
Giroud
Great breakdown, I actually didn't know that
It was awful how we treated him and fans hounded him out the club. Hopefully he could add another WC to his trophy cabinet
The Walcott injury, the Cazorla injury and Ozil signing were probably the biggest factors in Giroud not being more successful at Arsenal. Really needed an Auba type (or a fully functioning Theo at least) for Ozil to work with. Just didn't suit Giroud, and Wenger failed to address this until it was too late.
Giroud has been often underrated.
Great technique, footballing intelligence, team-player.
Remember his scorpion kick? Great improvisation.
Sure, he's not the most mobile striker, but you don't have to be when you have great footballing intelligence.
Put it this way, he's a player I'd want to have in my squad for he won't rock the boat if he's not starting but he can come in and make an impact, just like he has done this World Cup.
Very reliable in terms of fitness and always willing to put in a good shift but he blunted our attack often.
Seems to do the trick for France although who knows whether they'd have been even better had Benzema not been banned
A lot of legacies on the line this Sunday.
If the likes of Lloris, Varane, Griezmann, Giroud win a 2nd World Cup, they’ll have to be considered modern greats
In the case of Varane, he’d become contender for GOAT defender
You are far too obsessed with GOAT's and labels.

Aren’t we all?
Ultimately that’s a big part of football discourse. The games feed the narratives
No, not really. I don't think a win or loss on Sunday changes how a good a player is, and Varane will never be the best defender ever.
all im taking from this is the four points we took off of you cost you the league lol
giroud is a legend
very much a big game player
Leicester won the league by 10 points so not sure how you came to that conclusion.
Yesterday's game reminded me of everything I hated about Giroud. All those years when we had no outlet upfront and the opposition could squeeze up the pitch and pen us in with the ball repeatedly bouncing off Giroud whenever it got to him. Giroud was so crap that there was that run of games where he was dropped for Sanogo.
didnt look at which season or how the table finished lol
Great squad player for us. Played a huge part in helping us win the CL, FA Cup, EL and finishing in the top 4.
Great squad player

That was the issue for us. RvP left and we never really had an alternative to Giroud. Walcotts injury in 2014 was also massive - Theo was on fire in the season and half after RvP left, which gave OG chance to settle in.
One of those players who’s turned overrated in recent times
Had a brilliant Euromick season when we won it the second time...just didn't turn up enough in the Prem...our poor service probably didn't help
Clearly we had a big issue that season with relying on Giroud. Whether you place the blame at his fault for not being good enough to drag us to the title or the people higher up for not having a good option to compete with him is another question.

Mate, that's because you are talking to people who really do think, because he once played for Arsenal, then Arsenal have made it to the WC final.
What is even more worrying is the match
commentator , who kept on mentioning Arsenal throughout every game when as Arsenal player touched the ball, also thinks that too.
Erm, not sure that makes any sense Sandy. The Chelsea fan was taking joy over Chelsea denying Arsenal a title by beating and drawing with them.
