Arsenal are this year’s Liverpool
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Which season Liverpool?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Well, last year’s
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Can't see us going that way
I don’t think Arsenal will be as bad as Liverpool were but I can’t see them being close to City again.
Thick as pigs muck that young city lad ain't he
I think we'll be pretty consistent again, just depends if City continue to turn up or have any sort of burnout cos we can't match their highs.

I don’t think Boris is young.
Boris must be stabbing his eyeballs in anger
I think 50 points in the first half of the season was a massive overachievement, the second half of the season better reflects the difference between Arsenal and City. Hopefully I’m wrong and Arsenal can go one further and win it if we can’t, but I can’t see it.

We have another decent start, so we should start strongly and carry some momentum through. We also have more depth, quality and the squad is a year more experienced. The flip side is that we can't just put out the reserves in Europe and Liverpool and Chelsea should be stronger this year, so I think it'll all even itself out and we'll end up in a similar spot over the course of the season, perhaps a little worse.
Teams will also probably have more of an idea how to play against us this year too, as usually happens with surprise packages
I think your midfield will find it more difficult this season. Xhaka was your best midfielder and him, Partey and Odegaard had a good few years getting familiar with each other and the system. If Arsenal manage above 80 points again they’ll have done very well.
I watched it on my iPad outside a cafe in Foggia.
The battery ran out when we were 2-1 down on pens, the BBC sports app told me the rest.

It could do, but I think in terms of replacing him we've probably done it about as seamlessly as we can - two PL experienced players that offer different skillsets for the position and seemingly fit into the squad well. We should have enough to get through our first run of games regardless and hopefully it'll start to click from there. I also don't think Xhaka was our best midfielder really.

I’m not sure you have, especially when you consider the role he played and how familiar he was with his teammates. None of the players you signed can individually replace what he offered last season, I think it’ll take some time for the midfield to figure things out. Partey was better in the first half of the season then disappeared, whereas Xhaka was more consistent throughout the year. I know Arsenal fans don’t like him, and I’ve never really rated him, but last year he was massively influential. Hard to replace that from the get go. And Partey is going to the AFCON, so it seems unlikely the midfield will play to the level it did for the first half of last season, which is why I think the second half was a better reflection of Arsenal’s true level.
