By some strange coincidence, all 3 promoted sides had among the smallest budgets in the Championship last season. Buoyed up by some shrewd loan signings.

Club owners who are too "clever" for their own good.

Why have they not spent any money then? Can’t survive the top league with championship players?

City lent both Burnley and SU some good players last season to bolster their squads.

Most have since been recalled.
