FA has decided to completely scrap FA Cup replays (from 1st round onwards).
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Has that been planned for a while or a knee jerk reaction to their best teams getting knocked out?

If they're doing this then they need to change the financial structure a little. I think depending on what league you're representing, the lower down you are, the higher proportion of revenue you gain from that fixture. Replays were considered a kind of defibrillator to ailing clubs, allowing them to gain further tv money. If they're scrapping replays, they need to ensure the smaller clubs aren't out of pocket.
I would have just gotten rid of replays for teams in the same division
if you can't beat a team in a division below you then they deserve a replay
Hi Guys. With England doing so badly in Europe this season and it looking like Spain, Germany, Italy and France will all significantly outperform them this season, is there a chance that England lose a top 4 place in the near future? So only 3 teams from the PL could get top 4. Another 2 or 3 seasons of this level of catastrophic failure then surely they would be reduced to three top 4 spots? Or is this different now with the new format?

Fair point Fridge a small club getting a draw at home against a bigger club can damn near finance themselves for a season from a sell out replay

I know in Spain the smaller club automatically plays at home. The draw determines the fixtures but home or away is determined by a club's level in the pyramid. Gives smaller clubs greater chance to progress.
Aren’t all the Spanish cup matches over 2 legs though? Or did that change also
Germany and France the lower league teams are guaranteed home draws though
Predictions tonight:
West ham 0 Leverkusen 2
Atalanta 1 Liverpool 3

I read that the PL has agreed to fork out an extra 30-odd mil per season to be distributed down the pyramid. I've no idea how it'll be shared out though.
Hoping for some good matches tonight
