Has anyone missed a pen in the quarters, semis and final of a major tournament before? Maybe Kane could complete the set this year.

I know he has scored loads of pens in the groups and in the last 16 but he tends to hit a ceiling in terms of his biggest asset when it gets to the quarters stage onwards.

It would be some feat to lose every tournament ever entered in your club and international career, but to miss a pen in every round to send your team out would be pretty remarkable.

I get that. He is a truly unique talent and I have watched him progress for Rangers this season, scoring some important goals. But he still ain't Scotland quality, even if he is a one of a kind player.

I've always liked him as a fellah, decent bloke who usually chats well but have also thought that he isn't a top tier manager?

England could win this but if not one of the reasons could well be his reluctance to play to the current squads strengths?
