This one was clear cut
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It's not absurd. Rules inevitably create grey areas, but Rule 12 is clear on fouls in the penalty area: pulling an opponent constitutes a foul, resulting in a red card and a penalty when denying a goal or obvious goal scoring opportunity. What’s truly absurd is the inconsistent interpretation of the rules, particularly in the enforcement of Rule 12 by officials.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Difference in the 2 was that the ball had already been played in the Liverpool palace game and in the Everton Newcastle game it hadn’t.
If you think Van Dijk denied a clear goal scoring opportunity then you’re a facking idiot. The ball wasn’t reachable.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So, you can do anything as long as the ball is unreachable, it's not a foul?! That must be the moron protocol you operate under, KLS! 🤣
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I look forward to this new rule being applied consistently

That’s a foul! It doesn’t matter if every defender is doing it, the real issue is the consistent enforcement of the rules. If referees consistently awarded 5 or 6 penalties per game, for example, this behaviour would quickly disappear. Clear rules shouldn't be confused with inconsistent enforcement; it’s not a grey area, it’s simply a failure to apply the rules properly.

I doubt it was overlooked, it was probably looked at and common sense prevailed. The ball in went straight to Alissons arms. Guehi had next to no chance of get on the end of it. Had it have gone over Alisson and looked to be finding Guehi it'd have no doubt been given as a PK.

I think your view would be different if the roles had been reversed, Van Dijk was clearly pushed in the back first half from a corner when it was a goal scoring opportunity but nothing was given. The palace one wasn’t a goal scoring opportunity because the ball was miles away.
Stop letting your bias make you look like a t!thead.

If the Liverpool player had close to zero chance of getting on the end of it and scoring why one earth would i be bothered if it had or not?
Do i want Liverpool getting pens for stuff we see 100s of times a weekend thats rarely given? No, id want consistency if they were given yes but they simply are not. If i was a Wolves fan id be annoyed my team was punished when we see that all the time not beiing given.
Its widely accepted you run the risk doing it but we know its few and far between when theyre given. There is no consistency with it.

Don't be absurd.
Some fouls are yellow/red cards, others aren't.
There are always grey areas
----------------------------------------------------------------------
🤣

That’s what you wrote yes?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That's one aspect
The foul must be interpreted in its own right.
Do you or do you not accept VVD pulled the Palace player's arm?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes he pulled his arm!
Is there pushing and pulling in the penalty area every set piece?
In the first half Van Dijk headed a corner just over the bar, he was clearly pushed by a palace defender who didn’t get the ball. Is every push or pull a foul?

If this is a pen so should have been the foul by Van Dijk on the Palace player.

You’re contradicting yourself now.

KLS,
You’re accusing me of bias, but I’ve been nothing but complimentary towards Slot and Liverpool throughout the match. There’s no bias here. What I’m calling for is consistency in how officials interpret and enforce the rules.
