You just have to ask yourself who you would want in your team, Salah from the year 2002, or Henry from 2017? When their rival was at their peak. Even when Henry was old in the second half of the 10s, when Salah was at his peak, he shiiiites all over Salah in the early 00s when Henry was at his peak.

Therefore Henry the better player across the two eras. That makes him better overall.

Surely Salah's form this season shows how much the quality in the EPL has declined in the past decade? Back in 2014 when he played for Chelsea as a spry 21-year-old he only got 2 goals in 10 games. But now as a declining 32-year-old he's got 17 goals in 18 games.

If you look at his international scoring record he had a better strike rate in 2014 for Egypt than he did in 2024. To me that unequivocally proves that Salah hasn't got any better as time has gone on, it's just the league has got a lot, lot weaker.
