Some players won't make it under Ten Hag, but even in these cases, there's a net gain. Let's say AWB gets a lot better but we still decide to sell him: I imagine we get a bigger fee in the summer after a few performances like the last three than we would have done after Rangnick's stint in charge. Or take Elanga, regardless of any improvement in output: buyers would be looking at a player who hasn't quite made the grade at a club that is flying and has the highest aspirations, rather than a player who isn't getting minutes at the expense of team-mates who are underwhelming. I think that inflates his value. I think having a very good manager generally strengthens our bargaining position in the transfer market, as both a buyer and a seller.
I'm going to play devil's advocate here.
Dalot aside, have those player actually improved or have they gone back to their previous top levels?

Either way it's down to the manager

I agree but most of those players were at a similar level before last season. Fred was arguably similar last season.
We are slowly getting there. Still missing a world class striker and another top midfielder to come in and rotate with Eriksen. If we can get both this summer then next season we should be in a title race for sure.

What is impressive is getting multiple players somewhere close to the top of their game at the same time, rather than peaking / dipping randomly, which suggests it isn't all down to their individual efforts. I think the quality output we're seeing is partly down to good coaching / man management of individuals but also a lot to do with instilling a coherent collective tactical plan. Of course players look better when their skill set is well aligned with the needs of the team. Of course they will execute better when everyone around them is on the same wavelength, clear about what they are supposed to do, and confident they know what their team mates will do next.
We probably should have conceded last night, but ETH must have almost as many clean sheets as Ole by now.

He's regressed again since the restart hasn't he?
Bruno is another who needs to improve. He messes up so many simple passes. One thing ETH has gotten wrong imo is the Bruno out wide experiment.

He's injured too often, so wont get any long streak of consistency

Not sure Fred was ever playing at the level he's playing right now for us to be fair

Martial's performance is dramatically better under ETH than last season in Manchester and Sevilla. In the summer almost everyone had written him off. Now the conversation is mainly about how much we rely on him to knit the attack together and what a shame it is he can't stay fit.
