Is that matheus? You have a gem of a player there ….he glided past players with ease , effortless

If Nunes was the player offside then surely any time a ball goes back to a corner taker they are always going to be offside. Seems ridiculous

The closest thing I’ve seen to KDB since Dave Edwards ......

Good job it’s looking like we might have a bigger squad that can play now. With the replay plus the league cup against Forest and possibly a two leg league cup semi, and possibly a 4th round cup match all in January. Let alone league games against West Ham and Man City.

It’s a problem being successful

Apart from being in relegation trouble
But I get what you are saying and looking forward to some live games

It's a very strange feeling being a Wolves supporter at the moment. We are playing some very good football, finally scoring the odd goal and getting some decent results, some of which we were unlucky not to do better.

But . . .

We are bottom but one in the league.

Surely, we are too good to go down.

Yes, I've said it.

Must admit have got home feeling quite grumpy probably more because of the M6 and my idiot sat nav, but also because of the incredibly poor refereeing and VAR. But that said I was really proud of the team, all worked really hard and you can tell that they are playing for Lopetegui and giving 100%. Disappointed with their two goals, as soon as Collins misplaced that pass to TAA I just knew it was going to end in a goal. Great pass and finish though to be fair.

I thought we struggled at times against their high line, Salah, Nunez and Gakpo were like annoying blue bottles buzzing around and not letting anyone settle on the ball, but we worked really hard to break it and got bodies in the box and the ball in the net three times for the first time this season. We should be ok if we keep this level up.

I am not concerned about relegation and stand by it. We will break 40 points when all is said and done.

Here is a great vid. Quite clearly shows it is a nonsense.

If that is offside then as i said last night any time the ball goes back to the corner taker he must be offside because he is coming from an offside position. So every short corner is illegal if it is played back to the taker. It has to be the case that the taker is only offside if he is still in an offside position when the ball is played back to him, which Nunes wasn’t

The ball nunes collected was played backwards and he ran back to collect it. I thought the ball had to be played forward for an offside offence to occur..?

Either way, it’s done now. I thought it was a great performance, especially considering some of the fringe players starting. Playing like that should see us moving in the right direction, but a regular scorer (or scorers) will help as we had way more intent around the opponents box last night.

Nunes to start from now on please, and hope RAN is okay to continue in a more advanced role.

Still angry about it this morning to be honest.

Lots of positives from last night. Lembikisa like Bueno looks a really promising full back. Toti makes the odd mistake but is improving. Nunes is now looking like the midfield player we have been crying out for and his ability to carry the ball through a crowded midfield is fantastic. Him and Neves compliment each other really well. Cunha looks promising but we have to wait and see if he can add the goals we need. RAN increasingly looks like a player that needs to play further forwards nit as a full back

Biggest compliment must go to Lopetegui though who has us organised and playing further up the field. And whereas Bruno used subs too little and too late, Julen uses them to change the dynamic and see the value of fresh legs in the last quarter of the game

The draw for the 4th round of the FA Cup takes place before todays televised game between Chelsea and Man City. Liverpool or Wolves is ball number 18

Re the Salah goal, this is from the Premier league website, how do they explain the decision in light of this:

Ahead of the 2022/23 Premier League season, here are some features you will see for the first time.

Change in offside
IFAB, football's law-making body, has clarified the offside rule, explaining what constitutes defending players "deliberately playing" the ball.

Though Law 11 (offside) has not explicitly changed, the new guidelines make clear that an attacking player who is offside will not automatically become onside upon a defender touching the ball, unless it was a save.

Though Law 11 has not explicitly changed, the new guidelines make clear an offside player will not automatically become onside upon a defender touching the ball.

So Mike Dean clearly doesn't know the rules.

I depends whether there is a difference in the Premier League rules and the FA's. There is a difference in how they use VAR, so it might be they have a different interpretation of this.

I think we can all accept that we won this match 1-3.

These are the IFAB rules so should apply to all matches regardless of the competition. The variable is the person enforcing the rules.

Wasn’t aware of that rule change for this season. Guess when they say the player doesn’t automatically become onside means it’s open to interpretation.

Also don’t know what is meant by them saying what constitutes deliberately playing the ball. Toti did deliberately play it. Is this rule change just trying to say a player doesn’t become onside if the ball accidentally bounces off a defender?

Mike Dean bends the rules to suit himself. He is a cheat and a liar

posted on 8/1/23

Lopetegui seems to be arguing that the reason Toti played the ball was that he knew Salah was behind him. And the fact Salah was offside does make it feel unfair that Toti’s touch is deemed to play him on

posted on 8/1/23

That goal is never given against Liverpool last night.

It is a very poor rule that even the officials don't really understand.
We had the following disallowed:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5NE8_4H99Dw

Now in the Arsenal one, the ball was going nowhere near Nketiah, and the Juventus player made a deliberate play of the ball that entirely changed its direction. There was no advantage of Nketiah being in his position until the defender played it.
Last night, there was a deliberate attempt for Gakpo to play the ball to Salah. Salahs intention was to meet this pass. The failed intervention of Toti changed nothing, the ball direction was still the same and Salahs run was still the same. Salah gained a massive advantage with his run and being in an offside position.

I really do not believe the rule is meant to allow goals like last nights, more the Nketiah one.

(ps, the Nketiah one was in a friendly without VAR. I am sure the extremely competent officials we have would have allowed the goal with VAR intervention).
