RIP Gianluca - one of very few likeable Chelsea players of the last 30 years
Gutted when I heard this RIP Gianluca Viali.
Top draw player and Top draw man.
A normal bloke like all of us. A good mate of mine who's Chelsea said he used have a ciggy on the bench when playing for chelsea and stub it out with his boot before coming on.... love it.
First saw him when chl4 started showing Italian footy. He and Roberto Mancini were brilliant for Sampdoria.

Won the title at Sampdoria with those 2 being unbelievable - Vialli had a curly mop as well.
Won it all at Juve as well
A top player
Viali, Ravanelli and Del Piero up top were mint.
Damn, Conte was in the same team as well. He will sad about the news as much as anyone.
RIP Luca
Fantastic player and by all accounts a great guy
Was a Top, too player.. gone too soon.

He defo is. He's pulled out of today's press conference because of it apparently.

very sad, lovely guy when I met him and got his signature as a young boy, was one of my favourite players when I started going to the bridge.
Loved that team with him, zola, petrescu, flo, hughes, di matteo, wisey...
Brought back a bit of glamour to the kings road.

i took my son on a stamford bridge tour last year
as part of the tour you go from the changing rooms down the tunnel and out towards the pitch
i found it odd that chelsea line up on the right in the tunnel but the home dug out is on the left as you come out meaning the subs coaches etc have to cross over
i questioned why and apparently it was vialli who changed it as a superstition after winning the fa cup
its stuck ever since and will probably remain that way for decades to come
loved watching him on football italia
absolute legend of a player
very good manager
by all accounts a top top bloke away from football
rip
Last year a candid Vialli opened up on how 'fragile' he was and how he never believed he would win any battle with cancer.
'I was a player and a strong man but also a fragile one and I think someone who might recognise himself. I'm here with my flaws, fears and desire to do something important,' Vialli said.
'I'm not having a battle with cancer because I don't think I'd be able to win it, it's a much stronger opponent me.
'Cancer is an unwanted travel companion, but I can't help it. He got on the train with me and I have to go on, travel with my head down, never giving up, hoping that one day this unwanted guest will get tired and let me live peacefully for many more years because there are still many things I want to do.'
What a man!
