St Mirren announce a 7 figure loss.
Amazing what happens when you restrict the two largest away supports to 4 games at home in total eh?
I foresee a change of heart next season.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Thought that myself. They can show the increased support from their fans for the big 2 visiting and like to make a lot of noise about it but ultimately its a slight loss which over 4 games a season adds up.
They've also spent more so likely need to sell their top players to break even again
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Feegie Celtic anyway

What is going on with our contract negotiations currently. £7m for Jura, and now offering a 50% sell on clause for a player, just to save us £1-2m in the short term. Im baffled by these stories if true?

Sometimes agents force teams to put in clauses or they will go elsewhere.
Celtic will see it as a chance to save money if the deal doesnt work out well. and you will only complain about the sell on if the guy does well and moves on for more money. So its only a problem if the player does really well and at the end of the day thats a good problem to have.
hearts and motherwell shopping in the J league now
rangers are shopping in Taiwan.
i read it was 50% up to 6 million, so a max 3 million sell on clause.
if we sell him for 10 then its still only 3.

The isse in Juranovic's contract isn't on us, it is on his previous clubs. They agreed a sell on clause. Our deal is with who we bought him from. not the down stream.
I personally feel a world cup semi finalist should be worth at least £10M but perhaps these figures are down to what we'd expect but not what teams can/ are willing to pay.
Chelsea would see him as a back up to Reece James so unlikely to want to spend too much. Barca (if true) are skint. The teams being linked to him now are not far off Celtic in financial capabilities so are not going to go beyond £6-7M.
I suspect we expected him to go quickly hence signing Johnson but no offers have come in that meet what we hoped to get. I still think he'll go but it may be that Juranovic does not want to leave unless it is to a "big" European team rather than a step down
I was talking about Logie B talking about celtic bidding just now for the Korean boy and including a 50% sell on fee. And him complaining about those clauses being inserted.
I also think if Monza are this far into negotiations then JJ has an interest in joining them.
I would imagine that dirty bassa Burlusconi will pay him pretty well at Monza also i imagine.

I’m relaxed about a high sell on fee. It likely means we aren’t prepared to hand out more for the signing, and if he makes good and gets sold on; we just don’t get that element in our fee in the future.
Straightforward trade off trying to balance risk and flesh out the belief from the selling team and agent that he will be worth a lot more down the line.
Good tactics if you ask me and wish I could do it with hiring staff

sell on clauses bring in "good problems" cant it restrict future potential profits... of course yeah , but this is only a problem if the player is playing well. like I said a good problem to have.
Need to accept teams in scotland are stepping stones, they expect to do well and move to a more lucrative league hence pay. the sell on is a by product of that.
yep, points well made
Would make me feel more relaxed about it if it were 50% up to a set amount, say £6m.
Anything less than £10m for Jura would be madness. Suppose we did our business to cover him early. So it may force our hand.
i think having spent 3 on johnson we would now take 7 as we don't want 3 rb's and if JJ doesnt play he will lose value.
Juranovic is worse than Tavernier defensively.....in my humble opinion
Have seen several teams score against Celtic ye to him not doing his job down his side.....and vividly remember Canada scoring with a guy ghosting in past JJ at the back stick
He's good going forward, absolutely...very suspect defensively imo
