Has there ever been such a drop off in quality of manager at a big club than Tuchel down to Potter?
I honestly can't imagine there has been. What on earth were the Chelsea owners thinking
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Fergie to Moyes. Doubt there’s another that even comes close to that.

The only DNA in Chelsea that made them winners was spending beyond their means and almost bankrupting the club. And then being backed by Russian blood money.
Otherwise Chelsea have never been relevant and have always been in Spurs' shadow.

I dunno. Obviously Fergie is a 99/100 while Moyes is middle of the road or slightly better, maybe 55-60/100
Tuchel is like an 80/100 maybe while Potter has basically done the square root of feck all so maybe a 40/100
So in summation both are about 40 points down on their predecessors. Don't ask where my numbers came from, I literally just made that up as I typed.
If Fergie’s 99/100 then Moyes is 9/100. The difference between those two is far, far bigger than the difference between Tuchel and Potter.

I still think that is harsh. Moyes has shown with West Ham he is no mug and he was pretty good with Everton as well. But I do agree Fergie is light years ahead of just about anyone. At least Moyes had done something prior to taking the United job whereas Potter hasn't really I don't think.
I don’t think it’s harsh at all. Fergie is probably the best manager ever, the step down to Moyes is just ridiculous. Potter is probably a better manager than Moyes, but it’s debatable, whereas Tuchel isn’t anywhere near Fergie. There’s really no comparable drop in class in management than Fergie to Moyes.

It's not apples to apples though is it. Moyes was great for Everton and has done pretty well with wet spam. Like Emery looking clueless at Arsenal then smashing it in Spain. Sometimes managers don't fit clubs.. Obviously Moyes is worse but United at that time was an impossible job and I think he got unfairly judged there.
I’m comparing the difference in quality, so it is apples to apples. The gap between Fergie and Moyes is a chasm that isn’t comparable to any other managerial change.
If we're gunna have a serious conversation about this than Mourinho to Grant is checkmate! Ferguson to Moyes is child's play by comparison to that.

Fair enough. Though for the sake of argument, end-of-career SAF was nothing like his peak. If you'd got Pep in you would've been alright IMO.
Moyes now to then is different aswell. He was the Potter of his day. Maybe slightly less fashionable but he did much better with Everton than he had any right to.
