Is that because he can barely run?
i hope he stays at so called shiiity little southampton for life
much prefer to see local lads who have developed and progress and actual want to play for the club and the fans than a load of over paid over priced jonny foreigner who couldnt care less and have there head turned every transfer window
At least next season your "he'd walk into any midfield in the league" would be more accurate...
Most of the apologies need to come from Arsenal fans. The OP probably gave him as much s*** as anyone else a few years back.

No he wouldn't, free kick merchant.
Happy to say I backed Xhaka from day one. Never doubted him. Same with Odegaard and Arteta.

Same here
He's been brilliant in his current role. Absolute liability before that and was a major reason for 2 managers getting the boot... And nearly a third until moving position.
Very strange situation really, how could 3 managers play the guy in the wrong position for so long?
It wasn't just the obvious reckless sendings off (the players fault) either it was consistently not being able to perform the DM role which goes on the managers given how well it turns out he can perform when in his true position

Absolute horseshiete. You can't blame the inadequacies of 2 managers on one player. Xhaka has always been an exemplary professional and a role model. And now given full confidence and playing in his best position, he's showing his best form of his career

Who is blaming him for being played in the wrong position?
You can blame him for lashing out and getting himself sent off at times which cost is dearly in the past.
He's been absolutely brilliant in his correct position as I said, it doesn't change the fact he was a leading cause of us struggling while he was played in the wrong position under Wenger, Emery and even early Arteta.
To suggest otherwise is to rewrite history
"leading cause of us struggling"
So nothing to do with a backline of utter dross (Mustafi, Luiz, Sokratis, etc), goalkeepers of substandard quality, attackers who couldn't hit a barn door, or managers/coaches that weren't able to motivate the players or provide any level of tactical substance to the side or the ability to control unruly players.
No, it was all Granit Xhaka's fault.
For fock sake
Oh and Xhaka awarded Swiss player of the year.
