sensible people in short supply here, especially after we lose (or even draw)... agree with you 100%. The fact i got really excited and thought we had a chance of winning, is the most optimistic I have been in a good while.
Good post. Arsenal played is at a good time, not only for the points you mention but all the sheer number of games we’ve had of late, as they come in off the back of a week off.
They won and deservedly so, however we shown a spirit that’s been lacking at the club and with 2/3 additions in the summer I think we will be a lot closer.
Safe to say he’s not happy with the defending for the goals in that interview
Yeah we're definitely heading in the right direction. Quicker than I'm sure most of us expected, but today was a bit of a reality check. We aren't where we want to be yet. And our squad lacks any real depth in most areas. Hopefully we can get top four, maybe win a cup and then go from there
You held them until the last minute, no shame in that. People getting upset with ETH just shows how much expectations have grown in a short time. Thats a good thing.

We played the best team at the worst moment.
This squad still needs a lot of work. We also need to be smarter with our recruitment, I don’t think we addressed enough of our major issues in the summer.

Yeah them having a full week to prepare and us playing every midweek lately wasn't ideal. The Casemiro suspension was far from ideal either.
For all that though, I do think that they played at a level that we can't yet reach. But hopefully we will be able to in the not too distant future

We can’t (and shouldn’t) try to solve all our problems in one summer. But we signed a defensive midfielder (the best in the business), a centre back and a right winger.
I’m not saying we could, but our summer window wasn’t particularly grate. Especially given the lack of outgoings that were needed. A striker, keeper and a ball playing cm were the three things we needed to address most and we didn’t get any of them. If we are still making bad decisions like the summer with our recruitment and squad management it’s going to take a very long time to get to the level we want to be at, if ever. Hopefully with new ownership this can be addressed.

Totally agree.
Could have won the game with some luck … seriously?! 25 shots vs 6 suggests otherwise. Arsenal didn’t have all their players either … missing Jesus, their main striker? Other than that, fair enough OP.

Tbf if Jesus had played over Nketiah, we may well have got something. Nketiah may not be a better player but he damn sure is a better goalscorer

I’m looking forward to seeing Trossard and the Brazilian Maupay missing sitters every week.

his 1st transfer window we got Cedric and Mari on loan
Arteta won the FA cup and Community Shield at the end of his first season. I'd say instead of some arbitrary measure of improvements, the real measure of Man Utd's improvement under Ten Hag (who also had a fair chunk of £200m to spend) would be trophies.
