people are just making up reasons to be concerned about this transfer now who cares if nobody else was interested in them idk having to beat away anyone for deki and bentancur

Point is Chris.. Emery will have know all about this player. Just strange that was no talk of a move to Cilla seeing as it was financially low risk. Also if he was willing to move to Everton the player would’ve considering Villa I’m sure also.

I don’t mind we are getting more personnel in. But it has to be the right personnel. If he was identified as the right type of personnel to improve the squad we would’ve heard something before now. The reason I am so annoyed is because it confirms for me, the club hasn’t a plan. It’s very much impulsive. Which rarely works.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Exactly - it fits no footballing strategy and is only happening because he is cheap

----------------------------------------------------------------------

We hijacked Villa for Bentancur and Kulu was coveted by both Villa and Arsenal
----------------------------------------------------------------------
oh wow so Aston villa being interested in bentancur means that signing was a no brainer but Everton being interested in danjuma means that it's a shiiit signing
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Compare the Villa board to the circus at Everton - Villa are a club going places, Everton are going to the Championship
----------------------------------------------------------------------
yeah because villa's transfer business has been class

It really isn’t that simple. The fact we at the 11th hour are jumping on the back of an Everton deal speaks volumes. Pity you’re so desperate for any improvement at all you’re too blind to see what it means in terms of strategy.

you realise that this isn't a worse signing than danjuma just because one is cheap and the other is expensive right?

Because they won’t buy Conte the player he wants in that position - Zaniolo.

If I’m wrong and he gets Zaniolo as well then hands up, but we’ve been here before. This reeks of a cheap gap fill option.

I'm not blind at all ffs I've been very critical of the lack of joined up thinking at the club

I just don't think this is actually an example of that. we wanted a winger and then capitalised on a good deal. That's not a bad thing - nobody was accusing Liverpool of not having a strategy when they stole diaz from under our nose.

One thing I will say about this - should make Grand old teams fun to read for a bit tonight.

I feel for Everton fans, their board is Billy Smart Circus

Yes and look where Liverpool failure of strategy of late has got them. Yet when they planned transfers properly they were formidable. See my point..

They had been tracking Diaz for ages and had planned on buying him the following Summer - we just expedited the process - don’t you follow any of this news

And Zaniolo is not schitt, more importantly it was who Conte wanted. Once again it looks like Levy is not backing the manager and going for the cheap deal instead

So why is this not on Paratici? You're all blaming Levy. Last I heard he was still in control of football operations and no pending ban will change that until it's fully imposed worldwide.

No one knows anything on here. Opportunistic deals occur all the time in football. Van Der Vaart being one and when we did sign him, Levy phone Redknapp to see if he wanted him as he heard last minute a deal could be done. Levy probably did contact Conte to ask him and he might have said yes.

Honestly, you lot bang on about those of us unhappy with the managerial appointments as bed wetters. Take a look at yourselves. I can practically smell if from here. It's absolutely pisssssssing down your legs.

I really hope he smashes it now. That'll shut you lot up.

Like I said happy to be proven wrong.

For me it is simple. If the club know Conte is definitely off in the summer. Don’t sign any players. If he wants to stay or rather wants commitment from the club, give him the tools he wants and needs to complete his job.

Danjuma has been available all window - there is nothing opportunistic about it - Levy has just Baulked at the financials for the Zaniolo deal

posted on 24/1/23

zaniolo has done both his ACLs and his best ever season was when he got 8 goals and 4 assists in all competitions

Danjuma is coming off a season with 16 goals and 5 assists in all competitions

yet because one is actually a good deal and the other costs 40m danjuma is awful business and zaniolo would be a great signing

Or more sensibly - strengthen the squad with loan signings with no obligation to buy so that he can be supported short term until his inevitable exit in the summer.

Like speaking with a child.

That wasn’t my point. It was the lack of strategy that laid them to an opportunistic type last minute deal. Yes the odd one will work. But in the grand scheme of things in the bigger picture it won’t pay off.
