If you don't close the gap after all this spending then Potter will be gone.
Will you make top 4? Still possible but a very tall order.
this year itll be trick probably very close, next year garanteed
"If you don't close the gap after all this spending then Potter will be gone"
I would like to think that the board will give hime time.
After all Rome was not built in a day.
Although i do expect us to start to compete & push.
There is a lot to get the squad playing like team ect ect.

Seems like a bit of a project that will probably bare fruit next season.
currently 10 points outside of the top 4 and they will have to hope that Liverpool Spurs & United or Newcastle fail, to stand any chance.
I think they will need 45 or more from the next 18 games which is something like 14 wins 3 draws and 1 loss to hit 75 points. Thats an uphill task even for a team in top form. If a flying Arsenal manage that form they'll hit 95 points.
By comparison, Spurs would need a dozen wins a couple draws and 3 losses, while Man Utd could afford to lose 5 and win 12.
Just think theyve left themselves too much to do and they don't look settled yet under Potter, so a massive and unlikely ask.
Agreed it is a very steep gradient to close in such a short time.
But i also feel that Liverpool & Spurs will drop points.
I anticipate that Utd will maintain a decent level of consistency.
Newcastle ? are due some time off drop off?
More important than any signing would be getting James, kante, chillwell and others back fit.
Can we close the gap ? Yes of course
Can we get top four this season from where we are now ? I seriously doubt it. We'd need to go on an incredible run akin to title winning form.
This season is irrelevant. It's all about what condition we're in going into the start of next season and we're clearly going to be much much stronger.

Totally agree
Well, this season is both relevant & irrelevant.
Relevant in terms that the investment that has gone in this window will come with an expectation of improvement by both the squad & Potter.
Ideally it would be nice to see an identity / style emerge , coupled with a strong sense of competitiveness.
Finishing more than two or three points off of 4th place will at the very least will be seen as poor.
Irrelevant in as much the investment largely has gone in , the manager has been backed, he will be given time, unless there is continuation of the lacklustre, aimless direction we have been heading.
Agreed it is all about the condition that we start next season in.
Come on you blues, KTBFFH!

My take on the irrelevance of this season is purely where we finish. There is plenty of relevance from a future perspective though of course.
Yes,
The destination has relevance.
But surely the journey is not irrelevant.

Yeah me too. I can’t get too excited about the rest of this season tbh.
Few more dodgy results in the short term while they are still getting used to Potter and he’s trying to find a settled team bedding in the new signings, so no, I don’t think they’ll make top 4.
I think they’ll be playing well and on a good run come the end of the season though and will be in peoples minds by May that they’re nailed on for top 4 next season if not a serious contender for the league.
Next season ?
Top 4 is a must ,
After that its a grind to be a top two contender.
Imo.
Too late for top 4 this season. Just need to start improving so we are set up for next season.
