ETH and Sabitzer

Really happy with how Erik/the club have got this deal done. A welcome change from our past dealings in the transfer department.
Can’t really complain with how Erik has began his stint with us.

What I like about the Weghorst and Sabitzer deals is that they have cost us very little, they both seem to have been picked by the manager, they both work very hard and are system players.

I think both of them will make a good contribution to the team and wouldn't be shocked if we ended up buying 1 or both of them in the summer to bolster the squad.

I think he is by far our best manager since SAF.

While LVG and Jose may very well go down in history as better managers unfortunately we got both on the decline and both were stuck in their ways.

ETH appears to be your quintessential modern day manager with a long term vision

I think Weghorst we will. We need two CFs in the summer because, let's face it, Martial isn't reliable enough to be even a back up.

Sabitzer is probably on a bit more of a trial, as IMO as much as I like Eriksen I do think we need to upgrade on him with genuinely top quality in that position, which I'm not sure Sabitzer is (and i mean genuinely not sure - i havent seen enough of him). Will also depend on who else might be available though I guess.

ETH is a great coach and I think he will be a success if we can get the right players for his system. However, I am still not convinced on his decision making on signings. Casemiro and Erikson are not his signings, Malacia is ok nothing more, Weg I don't think has what it takes. Martinez, I admit, is a very good signing. Most of all though, I just can't ignore the fact that he signed Antony with such a big fee having worked with him for two years and knowing him closely how limited he is as a player. I hope he proves me wrong though, because I don't know where we go from here if he doesn't succeed.

On a totally separate note, great bit of business by Benfica, buy Enzo Fernández 6 months ago for €10m, then sell him for €120m in the January window

Chelsea are crazy.

Signing players on 7/8 contracts when they might not even work out.

Based on absolutely nothing. ETH has said in many an interview about Casemiro that the opportunity to sign him was too good to pass up.

Sometimes I wonder if some of these people ever listen to what the manager says.

I mean I've heard the Casemiro one before, but Eriksen? It was absolutely an ETH signing.

The only thing that gave the Casemiro rumour any legs is that ETH didn't instantly start him the minute he arrived... he has since started playing Casemiro in every possible game though and has actually said that he wanted him, once he realised the deal was possible!

On behalf of all football fans in Portugal, I’d like to thank all of those English households with three different TV subscription packages for single-handedly keeping the Primeira Liga afloat

Any player we sign that isn't Dutch, didn't play for Ajax or doesn't have a Dutch connection is somehow 'instantly dismissed as 'not an ETH signing, or someone that has been foisted on him.

Last three seasons:

Fernández - €121m
Núñez - €80m
Dias - €72m
Fernandes - €63m
Diaz - €47m
Nunes - €45m
Silva - €40m
Jiménez - €38m
Vieira - €35m
Palhinha - €20m
Telles - €15m

Total - €575m (representing only the major transfers to the PL from the big three). That’s a lot of Sky Sports subscriptions.

Your kind donations are greatly appreciated.

EtH has clearly showed that the Dutch league isn't a walk over just because you manage Ajax with them sacking Schreuder due to 7 games without a win. Erik is a top modern day manager and he showed nothing but class, dealing with the Ronny situation. He certainly takes no prisoners.
