Lots of teams win games when playing below par. Especially in a title race.
That decision has cost us two points. It's just silly to excuse it because somebody's opinion is we weren't good enough.

The whole point of VAR was the reduce these bad decisions. Now that tool is to reduce such bad decisions being mismanaged and your response is "oh well".
How thick are you?
To a point you made separately, this isn't about saying we should have won the game. It's about having a potential win written off erroneously. If VAR worked and Brentford went on to score one or more legitimate goals, I guarantee you the Gooners here would be bitching about the team's performance... some already have been. But Lee Mason's "forgetfulness" is the key issue here.

Right... so we all know that teams can:
1. play fantastically and win
2. play terribly and win
3. dominate and lose
4. get completely run off the pitch and lose
Arsenal were arguably going down route 2 and were heading for a win. Similarly, against your team earlier in the season, we were going down route 1 and were heading for a win (albeit not much of that game had been played). The bit that is completely outside of the team's - any team's control - is how referees and VAR officials officiate. Whether accidental or intentional, blatant or subtle, once a bad decision is made, there is no going back.
Take this incident as an example... before the game, we were 5 points ahead of City. With the results having gone the way they have, we are now 3 points ahead albeit with a game in hand. If they win the game on Wed, we're level. As much as we don't know what could have legitimately happened in the 16 minutes that remained if Mason had correctly disallowed the goal, what we DO know is that his error has affected our points tally. Not the team because, as above, we were playing poorly and winning. So it is completely conceivable that Arsenal could go on to lose the title, in part, because of refereering decisions.
And before you accuse me of having some blinkered Arsenal bias, I would say the same whoever the team.
But you’re taking one single incident from the game and using it to determine the alternative result.
It’s totally flawed.
There was an incident in the first half where Brentford went clear and the referee called it back for a foul, which no one seemed to agree with.
There was still time to play after the goal.
It’s lazy and over simplistic to take one decision and decide this has caused the result that occurred and the best teams don’t need to do that because they win a game anyway.
Of course some decisions affect games. But it’s not as black and white as you’re making out… not even close.

That call you're referencing is nowhere near the scale of the one at the end of the game. And, on top of that, the whistle was blown before the kick was made. So I'm not sure how you can compare the two.
The "goal" scored was in play and was sent to VAR to review where even Webb, in his official capacity, came out and said Mason messed up. So if the Head of the PGMOL comes out and says that the opportunity to correctly judge a violation in the lead up to a goal was missed, and therefore that the resulting goal remains logged, that ABSOLUTELY affected the game at that point. I did say that it's unknown what legitimately would have happened after but that "goal" most definitely had an impact... and the resulting scoreline has an impact on the table.
Lastly, if what I'm arguing isn't black and white (I never suggested it was), how can your argument that it is only and simply down to Arsenal's ability be the only "black and white" factor?
https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/21365403/arsenal-var-premier-league/?rec_article=true
With the exception of the Everton example, officials have come out to say that refereeing decisions have negatively affected Arsenal scores in individual games and ultimately the table. Despite how well (or not) that the team plays.
It doesn’t need to be on the same level.
Fundamentally it’s flawed to take one decision from the game and claim that had it been reversed, you’d have won.
I also never said Arsenal’s performance was the only factor.
What I’m saying is that title winning teams get on with it and accept that you get some good calls and some bad calls, as does everyone.
The better you play, the more good calls you get.
One single decision will not be the reason Arsenal don’t win the league, and it’s dishonest to claim it could be.

Okay, let's say I can't read. What's your point?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
My point is that if Arsenal don’t win the league, it won’t be because of one or two incorrect refereeing decisions.
Most games you’ll get decisions for you and against you.
The best teams… the league winning teams… they generally ensure that those dodgy calls don’t matter. Just like the best Arsenal teams of the past 30 years.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
But those one or two incorrect refereeing decisions can change games and potentially the outcome of a title challenge.
So, even if I misread, your point still doesn't stand.

The linesman that missed the offside seems to have gotten away with it.

They all have. I can't see much happening to Lee Mason. Not long term anyway.

No one excusing it.
But bad decisions have been happening for years and it’s not the reasons teams don’t win the title.
I’ve seen countless decisions go against United but they aren’t talked about because United score more.
It’s a pathetic excuse.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The whole point of VAR was the reduce these bad decisions.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Except that wasn’t my response, was it?

Right... so we all know that teams can:
1. play fantastically and win
2. play terribly and win
3. dominate and lose
4. get completely run off the pitch and lose
