Forest v Everton - Match Thread

I think this game could be a turning point in our season, we were all getting a little too comfortable last week at West Ham and paid a severe price.

Unlike the Reds the toffees are equally capable of blowing it either home or away, perhaps that was down to Lampards coaching, too early to tell I suspect.

Everton have scored one goal less than Forest, key differentiator is conceding a lot less. I suspect that Sean Dyche will set them up to be hard to beat tonight at Arsenal and look for an away point.

Tactics for Sunday may well depend on tonights result.
Cooper desperately needs Yates, Shelvey & Aurier to be fit.

Well a four nil thrashing won't have improved Evertons confidence any. Unfortunately it looks like Aurier is out.

Who will be the better motivator Cooper or Dyche?

Thanks for posting, 'chile. I like your team I think we do need someone who is more of a ball carrier as one of our 3 DMs, and we need more goal threat which I don't think Scarpa gives us so maybe start with Surridge (or Ayew) with MGW in the 10 spot.

Dyche has seen a lot of Forest thie season, and also knows how Wood plays (as does Tarkowski) so I'd leave him on the bench.

Want to see us on the front foot from the start; let's not let Everton take the initiative. It's going to be loud so a rampaging start will get the CG volume cranked right up to another level.

2-0 by half time and a 3-0 win (more wishful thinking than a prediction)

I wish I had your confidence RF60!

Cheers Red. I’d play Yates in the middle and opt for a 4-4-2 if available.

I went for the three DMs to break up play and feed it to the front two via Scarpa, or possibly a front three.

I definitely wouldn’t want Williams, Worrall, Colback, Lingard and Wood in the starting XI, but all might have to start.

Paul Taylor seemed to think Aurier should start.

Another 6 pointer

Massive 6 pointer, win tomorrow and we go 12th, should the unimaginable happen and we lose, Everton will be one point behind, that shows how tight the bottom of the table is. I’m hoping we have at least a couple of players back tomorrow, namely Yates and Aurier, with them i think we have a decent chance. Not sure how far away Awoniyi is, but Surridge and Wood will hopefully have enough to see us through. My fear is the nous that Dyche has, he is a master at setting up teams for 0-0 or 1-0 wins, where as Cooper is still learning, i think last week at West Ham showed that. Being at home with a raucous crowd behind the boys should really spur them on. My fear is Everton score and just sit back, they’ll be very difficult to breakdown. However, should we score and they have to chase the game i fancy us to get a couple. I’m going with the boys above on the wishful thinking side with the Garibaldi to win 2-0, fingers and everything else crossed. Brennan and Wood to score, please please please don’t let Maupay score, that would really hurt.

I think today is too early for Yates, but reading between the lines Aurier could return.
I hope he does; Williams nd Worrall on the right hand side of our defence seems like a weak spot. If Aurier does return there could be a choice between Williams and Toffolo on the left to replace Lodi who picked up a knock against WHU.

Serge Aurier returns for #NFFC... and Lodi is also fit and plays in the back four.

PLUS Ryan Yates is on the bench, following his recent absence, which is positive news.

Aurier had missed the West Ham game with a calf problem. Lodi had come off in London, but is fit enough to play today.

Navas

Aurier, Worrall, Felipe, Lodi

Shelvey, Freuler, Colback

Gibbs-White

Johnson, Wood

Subs: Hennessey, Mangala, Williams, Lingard, Toffolo, Surridge, Yates, Dennis, Ayew.

Tails

Fingers crossed we can get something today. It’s hard to be confident as we concede so many chances. I think the first goal is so important as usual. If we get in front, perfect.

It’s hard to to see us keeping a clean sheet and if you are a team that doesn’t score a lot then you would want to play Forest.

Let hope we can be more solid and Everton don’t take their chances and I think we will take one of hours and win 1-0

No Brazilians, not even on the bench, guess Cooper thinks this is going to be more of a battle, with little room for flair players. Some good strength on the bench, quite surprised Yates hasn’t started. Totally agree about the first goal today, just hope we get it. Fingers crossed, though i must admit to being nervous about this one.

So poor at defending! Totally unnecessary penalty to give away. Just give teams and players goals!!

Apart from the two in defence you mean?

Worse case scenario, just hope Everton decide to sit back and try to protect.

We seem to give other teams confidence. Everton are awful this season but they look dangerous on every attack. Whereas we hardly keep the ball when we get over the half way line.

Plenty of time to change things though.

Caniggia, apologies, i meant midfield attacking type Brazilians.

I have no idea why Colback didn’t just clear the ball when it came to him before Shelvey committed the foul

Poor start though. Real test to turn this around now. And Everton will sit and defend
