I think Conte has earned the chance to right a few wrongs against Milan.

That’s said, a contract offer has been on the table for a while and by all reports Conte isn’t looking like renewing.

Lose the Milan game and I would just part ways now. I doubt spect will though as we all know he will be holding out for CL qualification for next season again, with all the money that brings.

In terms of the next regime, being out of the CL next season could be beneficial. Although I do prefer Spurs playing in it, then not. Look at the seasons when clubs have had been out of Europe or even playing their second string throughout a Europa campaign. Their league campaign usually benefit as a result.

I thought the senior players, like Dier, Sanchez, Richy, even Sonny didn't fancy it last night. They down tools.

I would sell them in summer.

None of them fancied a battle and that's where we lost. Technically we are far better than them but they wanted more than the wuss in our side.

You could in Stelinni's face how he saw these players just down tools and were like bloody tourists!
Disgraceful!

This side is rotten to the core. Time for a wholesome changes.

That, for me, is the most astonishing part. Why on earth has he been offered a new contract anyway? I do not get that. We finished 4th last year because Arsenal and United bottled it. This year we're in 4th because Liverpool and Chelsea are in transition. In a normal season, we wouldn't be anywhere near it playing the kind of football we're playing. Those that look at the table alone aren't paying enough attention. We look like a team of individuals, there's no cohesion at all and last year our best players stepped up. This year we've lost one in Bentancur, Son and Kulu are a pale of their former selves and Kane is the only one producing. That's when a lack of direction and team cohesion is exposed.

That was truly shocking last night. A Sheffield United second string outplayed us. He should be allowed to get away with it and the knowledge that he's been offered a new deal I just find utterly staggering.

That's where we differ. If one player downs tools, it's on the player. If a whole team does, it's about management. A good manager will have players running through brick walls for him every single game. Whichever way you slice this, it's on the manager. If he can't motivate those within his ranks he has to go.

Also, Sheffield United have no provided the blueprint to beating us. Outnumber the midfield and we have no craft to get around it. It doesn't matter how great the top end is if they can't get the ball.

5 at the back against a championship team. Jesus effin' christ.

Making wholesale chamges at Spurs means 2 or 3 new signings every window, so to clear the trash we have including loan players will take a facking long time

It hurts because it was our last realistic hope of achieving anything special this season and practically a confirmation that we will yet again be trophyless. Nobody expects us to do anything in the CL and why would they with the squad we have. Vying for the top 4 now feels like an underwhelming challenge because whether we get it or not it changes nothing.

That's the problem

Yesterday's debacle is blessing in disguise as it puts our CL qualification down to other factors like, Arsenal bottling it, and us catching a good wind

I feel for Conte. He has no chance of doing anything with a bunch good for nothing players who are fleecing the club and giving nothing in exchange.

We need to send them all packing and start with a coach who will nurture youngsters through who want to give it their all. I know this could mean losing Kane too. But this is the route to long term success.

Not gonna lie. Last night stung. Not really fussed what happens from here on in for the rest of the season.

Not beating a 2nd string championship is a new low.

Moura was awful. Rico and Son awfull too. Sad times.

At Man U players had downed their tools, and look at them now. You need a positive manager that gets the best out the players. And that would not be Mourinho or Conte type managers.

New manager or not, we still need to get rid of a number of them. Sanchez, Dier, Davies....they've been with us for years and have let us down too often under multiple managers. You try and justify it to yourself by saying they're ok as squad players because they might come in and have a good game here or there, or a run of good games as in Dier's case, but then comes a game like yesterday where it costs us big time.

The priority should be getting rid of these guys in the summer. Sanchez the first on the list.

Staggering how bad Sanchez was last night!

Never seen a worse players in my life!

I agree. A complete clear out, except a few and then appoint Mason as the manager and start from scratch.

He was a complete clown last night with the lowlights being those moments where he seemed to fall down after losing his balance.

Probably Sandy's MOTM though.

Not sure about Mason taking over. Let Conte oversee the remainder of the season while considering other options to take over. If there should be some stark improvement in performances between now and the end then perhaps Conte can keep his job.

Couldn't agree more. The clearout might not need to be the firesale everyone thinks it is because it's hard to tell the truly bad players from those underperforming because of the style/tactics. It's probably a mixture of both. That certainly applies to forward players off form. They're more likely to grow tired of a system that restricts what they can do which I think is what we're seeing from Son and Kulu.

Defenders love defending so the likes of Dier are always gonna love Conte. My hunch is that the defence is just poor and needs replacing.

But in principle you're right, it's not all about having poor players. Somewhere along the line the manager and his tactics have to take a portion of the blame. The United example is a good one. Look at Rashford now under a front foot manager.

How does Harry Kane always seem to escape any kind of criticism whenever Tottenham crash out of a competition?

Yes, he started on the bench last night. But he was on the pitch for about half an hour.

In that half hour, he didn't register a single shot on target. Didn't have a single shot blocked. Didn't make a single successful dribble attempt. Only had 8 touches of the ball in total. Made only 4 accurate passes. And was involved in only 1 aerial duel.

Harry Kane is Tottenham in a nutshell. He always crawls back into his shell when the chips are down. For both club and country.

1 decent debut season from him and since then it's all been downhill. That's 5 years of not being fit for purpose. If you are purporting to be a big club you do not keep failing players for that long. He will never be anything more than rubbish. Had we bought another defender for Conte or even before that, he wouldn't have been playing.

He does escape criticism to be fair when it is sometimes warranted. I guess he has put himself in such a position through all his goals and great performances over the years that it protects him from it.

The fact is we shouldn't be so reliant on Kane because we should have better quality in the squad, but we don't so we do rely on him too much.

Someone needs to sit down with Harry Kane, and tell him the obvious truth
That trophies are well overrated. What really counts is money from CL qualification, the F1 and NFL tie-ins, and the amazing Dulux and Ineos deals for paint and 4x4 vehicle partners. This is what really matters when you’ve hung your boots up, you can tell your grandkids of the glory of the official paint sponsors and the Beyoncé concerts.

For a debut season for a 21 yr old brought in for a lot of money, yeah I thought he did reasonably well showing signs of potential for the future. Anything but has been the reality though.
