It was a very awful result and a very awful performance, and there is little to drag out of it except to think that, thankfully, the result will not really make any difference to the final positions of either club. Straws safely clutched.

And, odd as it may seem right now, that result and score-line could very easily have gone the other way - which would have been more credible - but that is no real consolation as it didn't (being a bit obvious here, my apologies). But, as 'they' say "that's football".

Painful though it is.

I'm off to wail now. But I will be back.

Maybe he'll respond when he's back from Wales. I think.

Rebuilding process?

It didn't take this long to build the Great Wall of China.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Moyes, VG, José, and Ole were terrible choices. ETH is the first sensible choice since Sir Alex.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

And one of those was SAF’s choice.

And that was, what, over ten years ago?

ETH has had half a season. Isn’t it a bit too early to say he’s the only good choice? Given your (you you own admittance) “terrible” choices that the club has made in over a decade?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No, it's not too early, it's evident

didnt you go through a "rebuilding process" with your last 3 managers?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes. Which is why we haven't been able to progress for a number of years.

More facking knee jerking going on this evening than a flash mob doing a Beyoncé track.

How do people who watch fifty games of football a season still not understand football?

I can understand that rival fans are making fun of us, but to see our fans turn against the team and the managers after all the progress that’s been make is beyond me.

The team completely gave up today. I don't think people criticising that pathetic second half showing should be seen as going too far. They deserve criticism because they were utterly awful, conceding embarrassing goal after embarrassing goal.

To criticize the team’s terrible performance is one thing, but to lose faith in the team and the manager is another.

True. Though aside from Culer (who doesn't count) I don't think too many have lost faith. Hopefully not anyway

Maybe I've missed it, but apart from obviously Culèr I think people have been pretty measured and even good-humoured. Those who've questioned the manager today, for instance, have qualified it carefully by saying he's obviously been great in the most part. It's literally the club's worst result for 90 years or something like that, and we are actually pretty good these days. Other thrashings we've taken in recent years have had some mitigating factors - red cards in the 6-1s at home to City and Spurs, Ole nearing the end of the line before the 5-0 against Liverpool - but this really came out of leftfield. I don't remember a side in third place ever losing 7-0. It doesn't really happen. Of course people are going to be wondering what went wrong.

This. Not that I've seen anyway. Mainly just people saying that even with our most influential players out there and a trophy in the bag, there is still obviously work to be done in terms of how this team deals with adversity. I'm sure ten Hag will be absolutely fuming about that second half.

That’s sensible and I’m fine with it.
