Agree - I think his reputation of being able to grind makes him play a bit negatively at times when he doesn't need to
----------------------------------------------------------------------
His style brings results. No doubt if this is 10-7 going in to tomorrow, the closer Brecel gets to the magic 18 then Selby will slow it right down to a grind. Mentally it’ll be interesting to see if Brecel can cope.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Sometimes you need to grind and there's no-one better than him at that. But sometimes you can get caught up in that and play too negatively rather than playing the correct or more positive shot.
I just have a feeling this is Luca's tournament - of course it won't be easy with Selby in the opposite corner, but just a feeling I have that he will do it.
Selby has a chance to steal.
Wow, how did that red drop
Slowby will run away with this tomorrow, just 1 behind when he clears these up
Run of the ball with Snoreby again

I see it the same as the way people used to complain about playing defensively against Barcelona. What would these people rather they do - just roll over and get beat 7-0?
If you lose 80% of scrappy frames then get better at scrappy frames.
He's making dam sure he wins this isn't he 🤬😡
Luca didn't need to hit and hope that yellow like that - that was poor
Tomorrow is another day, just come back refreshed and go again
9-8 not good for Luca. Selby has all the momentum. Unfortunately I think he'll win this now.
Yeah Selby will definitely win it from here.
It's facking granite snooker.
As annoying as he is, tactically, I think he is the best ever
Let's just hope Luca can stay with him.... Dam
Well I'm not giving up on Luca. Of course it's easy to say Selby will go on to win, but Luca can go out on the town and come back tomorrow
ffs, Luca is playing the right way, not letting himself get bogged down. Just needs to keep his concentration.
good session, all set for a tasty monday
You knew this would eventually happen with Brecel, but he’s played well. Just needs to start again.
He’s done little wrong. Still think it’ll be a close one.
He made mistakes in the final frame, very silly ones, but Mark Allen played a tactical game throughout and ended up making the same silly mistakes until he took risks and ended up playing better.
I'm not a fan of Selby at all but I have never seen another player who somehow finds a shot for any difficult situation.
You can put him in the most difficult snooker and you just know he will get out of it and keep the object ball safe.
Yes he is plays the percentages but fack me, tactically the guy is a monster
Tactically yes he is very good, but who is he up against?
Hardly any great tactical players nowadays
When he would play a younger Higgins, he would lose.
Even Ronnie beat him a lot of times.
This tournament in particular, he has been let off the hook on multiple occasions. In 2016-17, I would agree he was very difficult to beat, but that was a long time and he has been beaten everywhere since.

He is past his peak but come on, he is tactically the best I think. He has battered both Ronnie and Higgins throughout their careers
