Thought Summerville looked dangerous in the middle yesterday. Maybe gives us another option as a number 10 with Rodrigo or Bamford.

Roca plated well too in a deeper role just in front of the defence. Kind of like where KP used to play. Made some good long passes.

If it comes to the last game of the season and we are one off 3-4 teams needing a point to stay up, then we can sit and pray!..

The maths give us the same chance as any around us, and we have to play a lot off them this month, no reason why we can't do to them what some here seem to think they're going to do to us!..

Bournemouth, Forest, Leicester, Palace we play this month and none are better than us!..

West Ham on the 20th next month, that is 5 teams in the last 9 we have to play!..

"two wins, 6 points and our league position then looks (relatively) good."

Indeed.

When was last time we had back to back wins though?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
When was the last time we had three home games on the bounce, the first two against bottom half teams?

The next two weeks are crucial. Even Liverpool are beatable at ER.

I sense Gracia was saving players for this. How would we feel today if both our strikers had been injured trying to “match” the league leaders for 90 mins?

Yes the line up was a bit off piste but maybe his hands were tied a little.

As for Bill. Yes he’s been great for us but he can’t hide from some pretty basic mistakes yesterday. He looked knackered at the end and hopefully he fully recovers for Tuesday.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I’d hope Bill won’t be on the field against Forest. Like a stuck record, I’ve been saying for a long time he’s error prone and not up to Prem standard. Love the guy as a person and hope we keep him on staff as a positive influence next year, but he’s a shadow of the player he was under Marcelo. The fact he gets anywhere near being in the team is a reflection of our poor recruitment.

Sobering to think that Brighton, Brentford and Fulham all been safe a few games ago - what are they doing right?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
They just seem to be very well run clubs, grounded in reality … which is where I completely agree with the criticism directed at our board of directors.

Though Koch and Struijk is undoubtedly weaker than Koch and Wober (I don't rate Struijk, in fact I think he is awful), it is clear that teams are targetting Ayling. Balls over the top and he is always left for dead. I have a lot of time for Bill but this season has looked a season too far for him and RK is not to his level.
At the moment, Drameh is among the best right backs in the championship and Luton are looking destined to come up. He will be top quality, will come up Premier League ready and we will lose him next season as the club have completely cocked up the way they have managed the guy.

I’m not too bothered by yesterday we were missing key players and we did well until the pen. I thought it was a pen but no doubt he made a meal of it. Ayling made a second kick out. Stupid. The challenge with setting up to frustrate is always what to do if you do go behind.

This has happened all season. Goals change games. Bright starts ruined by poor finishing and/or defensive fck ups.

For all people seem generally happy with Gracia and our more defensive set up and controlled manner of play, the facts say we’re leaking opportunities at a similar level that we have all season and creating less. We rode our luck against Brighton and wolves… though we were due some.

This week may well decide the season. Need
4 points min from these 2 home games.

Thought we slighly shaded until the pen. 3 half chances, and looked fairly dangerous. Then they score from a dodgy pen. First shot on target

Anyone who thinks that is a pen, are enabling cheating.

Its a contact sport, slighty grazing a knee, which changed none of his momentum and balance. Isnt a pen, its blantant cheating.

Goals change games, early one in second, and the game is gone.

Personally think we’ll stay up, and comfortablely. Social media isnt a true reflection on things. Lot of bedwetters and just negative people on there.

Honestly dont know anyone who thinks we’ll go down, everyone is confident.

We might go down, be a real shame, we’ve given it away really.

100% agree about the penalty. I'm sick of hearing about "soft" ones being given. The way I see it, if it's a "soft" penalty, it's not a penalty!!

Didn't expect a result at Arsenal but massively frustrating that the "penalty" changed the course of the game.

Watched the Ayling moment pre-penalty award several
times today without beer coursing through my veins.

As much as it killed us, and I didn't like it, it was a
penalty. No doubt now in my mind. Ayling falls, literally,
for Jesus' move when he drops his shoulder and glides
past him. Knowing he'd lost him, from a seated position
on the floor, Ayling clearly and deliberately (but not violently)
strikes Jesus' knee as he passes him with the
intent of trying to stop him. The ball was still Jesus'
and Ayling had no chance of tackling him legally.

Reactionary from Bill in the heat of the moment. But,
I can't fault him for it. Speed of the game and all that.

It was a penalty.

It was a curious team selection which requires six points from the next two games to have been justified. Let's hope Bamford and Rodrigo can avoid injury before Tuesday.

Disappointed to ship four but we sorely missed Wober and Adams.

If Jesus wanted to go down he could of done with the previous attempt at a challenge in that passage of play and it would of been a penalty. He stayed on his and tried to score. If a player goes to ground and doesn't win the ball it's a penalty pure and simple.

Interested to hear why you think the club have cocked up managing this player?

Drameh had a handful of games for our first team and looked very average. He has looked very good playing U21/23s.
He was sent out on loan to Cardiff to gain some experience which seemed a logical thing to do?
He returned from Cardiff stating he no longer wanted to be at Leeds. Marsch has stated his heart wasnt in it for Leeds it took the player a few months to start knuckling down again. Consequently he could not be considered for first team football for the first part of this season and he was loaned back out to Luton where is getting good press again.
He is still contracted with the club until summer 2024 so there is an opportunity if he comes back from Luton in a better frame of mind that he can push next close season for a first team position. We are struggling at right back and it is up the him to show us he is the answer next season.

On the penalty.........its a modern day penalty which unfortunately has become a normal part of the game. It stinks. Another horrible part of the game that fits in the bad aspects of the modern game - diving, feining injury, card waving, time wasting etc.
The decision is consistent with other penalties and therefore I do not think we can complain about it but its damn frustrating that this sort of incident is allowed. Its a what i consider a top-6 penalty. They tend to have the fast footed attackers who can keep the ball close to themselves at higher speeds and attract dangling legs from the lesser sides who have slower defenders. Manchester City get 5+ of these penalties a season and have done for some years now. Its an art, but for me its a dark art.
Ultimately its here to stay unless the laws of the game are changed. It is however very difficult to interpret subjectively how much contact is needed to make someone fall over in every situation. Yesterdays was clear that there was minimal contact but there are others that would be more difficult to judge even with VAR and therefore I do not expect any change in law. It is a case of if you cant beat them join them. Unfortunately we do not have the same quality of forwards who attract dangling legs.

Slightly bemused by the number of folk suggesting certain players were not available or were being rested by Gracia.
Its very evident that we know Gracia looks at the opposition in great detail. To me it was a clear plan from Gracia to make it difficult for Arsenal to score. I do not think for one second he was resting anyone or preventing injuries etc. Bamford, Rodrigo, McKennie all came on so clearly not preventing injuries.

His plan was working absolutely perfectly for 35 minutes. We literally had Arsenal in our back pockets for that time and we threatened at the other end. Had Rasmus hit the ball a foot lower we would have been 0-1 up in 10 seconds. Summerville should have done better with his chance. Harrison i thought did well with his chance and Arsenal perhaps a little fortunate the rebound fell to their defenders. Arsenal offered absolutely nothing until they "conned" themselves a cheap modern day penalty.

My initial thought it was a penalty, then when I saw it again I thought it was soft but there was some contact there.

I do wonder though if it had been at the other end of the field would we have got it? I doubt that.

Worst element, score apart, of the match was having Merson doing the updates on Sky.

Can't abide the guy. Waste of subscription money.

Aye I do empathize up to a point.

I just don't think he offers much - mind, many of that panel offer little as well.

Not sure the changes particularly improved things.

"Soft", "modern day", however you want to describe it, all amounts to the same thing. It wasn't a penalty.
