----------------------------------------------------------------------
The paragraph wasn't tongue in cheek. Rival fans are impatient with the slow pace of due process because they want to see City punished. And that impatience is fuelled to a great degree by resentment of City's success rather than deep concern about the sanctity of the game. Of course, most of us to care about the latter as well, but if City weren't enjoying a decade of vast superiority over our team we wouldn't be hearing this same Justice Now! clamour.
The other unhelpful emotion I mentioned is cynicism. "The sport is corrupt... the authorities will never do anything about it." This kind of stance is self-defeating and actually hugely beneficial to those who thrive in an absence of accountability. But it's also often factually untrue. I mean, the authorities have in fact been methodically investigating City for years and now pressed charges. This isn't the behaviour of an elite that wants to brush malpractice under the carpet. It's at least evidence that some people within the governing bodies are serious about enforcing the rules and holding financial powerhouses to account.
So, no, it wasn't tongue in cheek.
I don’t think the charges of failing to participate in the 2011 + 2012 FA Cups will stand up in court.

Personally as rival fan I'm in no hurry to see City 'get punished'. As a Manc United supporter In not jealous or bitter of the recent success of City either. Why would I be? The fact it is City is irrelevant to me. (I'm actually still a bit gobsmacked that it is lil' ol' City that have got themselves in the dock over this. It seems only yesterday that I was at Wembley watching them play Gillingham). It's English football and its relationship with money that is the dock over this and its being brewing and growing unchallenged by the law since the inception of the PL. This is why cynicism is rife in football and people understandably doubt that justice will ever be served against the main players who look to cheat and those bodies that run it such as the FA, PL, UEFA and FIFA. So I welcome a thorough investigation that leaves no stone unturned and dots and crosses every i and t as it will need to. Clubs like City, Chelsea, United, Newcastle and the rest to come, have to be aware that they will get found out eventually if they decide to go down that road.

It's always felt like an attempt to stop outside money disrupting the established order as well, and there's more than one way to fack your finances up (look at Barca's money issues and what Rangers did in Scotland).
Anyway, rules are rules I guess, whatever the motivation. Just my ten pence on the subject.
I find some of the comments on the Arsenal board quite amusing.
Apparently their recent blip is down to alleged financial wrongdoing by City in 2011.

The revelations this week about Haaland turning down Bayerns offer last season explain the banner at the City game bizarrely throwing in the Glazers for ruining football.
The intentions of FFP and other regulations of fair financial practice are correct. The drivers of the enforcement and specific targeting of certain clubs are doing it for their own selfish reasons and that's where the problem is.
The premier league as a whole and its cash is generally a problem for Bundesliga and Laliga as even mid table teams are attracting top players and top coaches.
A club like Man City and Chelsea are a problem specifically for Madrid, Barca and Bayern as they are attracting players which they would ordinarily have first dibs to continue their multimillionaire franchises. The impression is both PSG and City have offered money that unfairly disadvantaged both clubs.
Probably true which is where I don't quite understand why PSG and City at times feel the need to pay over the asking rate.
The full fallout from the Mbappe (Madrid) and Haaland (Bayern) transfers will be interesting. This is not the end of it yet.
It's interesting that this particular subject is getting so much traction from fans of other clubs.
Culer has, on this thread alone, shown himself to be an idiot. He has made comments that you'd expect from a kid of around 10 years old.
Red Russion, as always, has been a voice of reason.
Derby County had two allegations made against them, and that took two years to come to a conclusion.
The allegations made against City will take much longer than that to reach their conclusion.
The OP is, all said and done, a bit of an idiot.
But there is a running narrative throughout threads like these. We all know what that narrative is. That narrative doesn't require justice in a legal sense. That's not what this narrative is all about.
It's quite frankly pathetic.
So, see you all in 2027 (that's around the time that this will reach a verdict).
And if anyone thinks that is something that favours City, then they are truly deluded. For the longer this goes on, the more it damages anything City achieve from now until then.
It is in City's best interests to have this put to bed (one way or the other) as soon as possible.
Afterall, if it were put to bed right now, and City had the worst sanctions put upn them, then by 2027 City would be back in the top flight anyway.
Remember Rangers?

Why group City in with PSG?
£53m for Haaland and £19m for Alvarez was way over the top.
PSG who are in the 5th rated European league, with attendances that would place them between Newcastle and Villa if they were in the Prem, receive Championship levels of TV money and could only afford to pay £200m for Mbappe because they are totally dependant on sponsorship money which UEFA completely ignores.
City celebrated the 129th anniversary yesterday of changing their name from Ardwick FC to Manchester City F.C.
PSG celebrate the 50th anniversary of the formation in 2 years time, anyone who compares the 2 clubs is a clueless idiot.

We made it to the top by having owners willing to invest, obviously coupled with hiring a top manager and DOF.
Their 'asset' is now worth at least 3x the total they have put in and the club has been self sufficent for the last few years.
You should be more worried about the emails concering Wolves and how they've managed to secure some of the top Portugese talent in recent years without the income generated by CL football.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Sorry but what do I think? You presume too much
The reason I say that is that it works for the lawyers and also City likely will not know for certain how this will go so it’s much better to drag it out for as long as possible. Plus the legal spending power and notable legal representation that they have will have more time to find inconsistencies, errors and holes in the accusations to get the case thrown out; meanwhile they can continue to operate.
This is a legal battle now and that’s a different game to ‘proving your innocence’.
I’m presuming that you think City are guilty.
Am I wrong to presume that?
Not sure exactly what authority the FA or UEFA have to even investigate it properly tbh.
Take this example. City owners other company invests a billion in the Indian billionaires telecoms company in 2020. Few years later his telecoms company signs a deal with city to be their telecom sponsor.
Can the FA or UEFA just walk into all them companies and insist on seeing the exact details, to see whether the price was inflated? How do they even decide if it's just a coincidence someone, who isn't an owner is investing them sums?
Seems a bit silly to think they can trawl through all these companies and documents, and that's knowing even if the city owner said in 2020 the deal was subject to him paying a big sponsorship deal later, they never would have documented this on paper 😂
These are billionaires. Shrewd billionaires and the club's are just toys to them. We all know what's going on but I just don't see how they prove it tbh

Anyway, rules are rules I guess, whatever the motivation. Just my ten pence on the subject.

I find some of the comments on the Arsenal board quite amusing.
Apparently their recent blip is down to alleged financial wrongdoing by City in 2011.

I might be in a minority of one among United supporters, but I think it's a daft rule anyway. It's their money, let them spend it.
If the actual aim is to stop clubs overspending and going into administration there are probably better ways of doing it.
We can compete financially with city, we've just been shiiit at it while they've been very good.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think its more to protect clubs from their owners just up and leaving and leaving the club in the stick with wages/costs they cant cover

Not at all, our prize and TV money was nearly £200m last season, we didn't need a huge handout from the owners.
