If we get Kane and a CB to replace Varane, I'd back us to challenge City.

Honestly we won't make a title challenge with De Gea still in goal conceding every shot lol we are actually the lowest scorers in the league in last 5 league games scoring 3 despite our XG being over 4 in just our last game lol.😂

At least you can see the plan and what ETH is trying to do and so do the [players and so far looks like he has them on board.

next season is the season to judge him, he will get backed in the next two windows surely since he has shown competence to handle the club and the league.

could be interesting

"he will get backed in the next two windows surely since he has shown competence to handle the club and the league."

All depends whether the takeover happens and if it does that'll need to be done ASAP (which doesn't look like happening) to give us the time needed to conclude any deals.

i dont think it matters, the revenue the club generate means he will still have cash to spend. Most revenue of any club in the world means you have the biggest budget according to FFP.

So regardless he will get a good budget, the takeover might determine whether or not its a fantastic budget IMO.

And if ETH is astute as he comes across, then the majority of his targets and possible deals will be sorted by now.

Wonder how Villa will get on next season if Emery is given the backing by them, starting to look really impressive.

are they not 2nd place in terms of form since he took over or something mental?

There were concerns around their ability to spend in relation to FFP in January which is why they only made loan signings so they would be able to spend this summer.

The football finances guy Kieran Maguire said

“United are in an okay but not great position with regards to FFP,”

“Part of the reason for this is that they have not managed to significantly supplement revenues from broadcast, commercial and matchday with player sales.

“United’s income from player sales are £500m less than Chelsea’s over the last decade, for example. This means that they have perhaps got less flexibility than they would like.

“Not being in the Champions League has a negative impact. The loss of TeamViewer as their principal sponsor also means they have to be slightly more cautious.

Villa will finish this season strongly. Enough to keep United Spurs and Ncastle looking over their shoulders.

I don't think we do though, we have huge debts on outstanding transfer payments and last summer we spent over our supposed budget (which is why we had no money in January and which will effect any spend this summer if the Glazer's stay).

The most likely outcome is Qatar win the bid but because of delays over the Glazers wanting more bidding rounds they won't take over until the middle of summer which will probably be too late to work on transfers. They usually take months of preparation, we can't just go to these clubs in June/July and expect to get deals done.

yeah but with the money coming and going from that club then just now spending much in a window helps that a good bit. with them bringing in loans then it shows they are not in the red and one summers worth of sponsorship, prize money, season tickets etc. will give them money to play with im sure.

I think Emery is doing well but when you look at the Villa squad, it's easily a top 8 squad.

If they could shift Coutinho in the summer and give Emery heavy backing they could be a real problem next season and turn themselves into Spurs under Redknapp when they went from being well supported but schit to a genuine big team in the league.

EtH might be astute but if he doesn't know how much he can spend then it's hard to know how to use any money we will have.

A ST I think is top of everyone's wish list and that alone is going to cost around £100m. After that it all depends what we have left (if we even have enough for a £100m striker).

Back to the Fergie days where we are expected to compete whilst not often being the highest spenders.

He will know a minimum amount ie the amount he has if the deal doesnt go ahead and if he is smart enough he will assume thats his budget and anything above it would be a bonus.

So i think he will have already pretty much singled out and sorted out his deals.

What loans have United taken? We're in the middle of being sold, don't think the Glazer's are taking out lonas to finance some big summer transfers.

yeah but deals can also be structured in a number of ways now so that 100m doesnt all come out this seasons budget
