I don't think it even matters anymore we'll only be here again 5, 6, 7 months time facing some other disaster.....

As a complete neutral and an outsider looking in I'm confused as to why you aren't appointing a permanent manager now. Most of the ones getting linked are out of work so surely it makes sense for them to come in now (at least in the background) to start assessing the squad for next season. Unless your number one target is someone in a job who has already given an indication that they will take the job at the end of the season.

So Levy can save a few months wages....

I agree. But the narrative seems to be that no manager wants to come in now when they can't change much, and then get off to a bad start when they're blamed for a shambolic end to the season.

From my perspective the rest of the season is a free hit, so I don't really get it

6-1 loss to Newcastle, Kane confirming he's not going to sign another contract, Chelsea about to get Poch as manager.

You and me dude!

If we have not already identified someone before and since Conte left, why not??

Also, if we have, just pay whatever and get it sorted...It would have been better to face the crucial last few games with a proven manager in charge, instead of a rookey in charge?

Beggars belief, this chairman will do anything to save some money even at the expense of the club's prospects and chances to win something!

The absolute ANTI-FOOTBALL CHAIRMAN!

The guys from The Athletic's View From The Lane podcast have said that they think that if we'd appointed Redknapp until the end of the season after the Southampton game, we'd be sitting in fourth by now. When he first joined us he had that galvanising effect on the team post Ramos. Expert man-manager's like him keep things really simple which is why he wold have been perfect. The players need a bit of belief back. They need to be reminded of their talents.

Saying that, I do think there's a lack of steeliness within the squad itself. Players with the right mentality will do the business regardless of the circus going on around them. Look at Chelsea over the years. They sacked managers so frequently under Abramovich but it never affected them because the spine of that team - Cech, Terry, Lampard and Drogba (amongst a couple of others) could manage itself. Let's not pretend Di Matteo won that CL with astute tactical nous. He was on easy street because he had so many strong leaders. The ship steered itself.

Now contrast that with our very own interim manager and see the difference. Ultimately blame lies in the management and those above, namely Levy, but those players need to stand up and be counted. I don't care that Lloris said the same in an interview. It's about what you do on the pitch. We can all come up with a sound-bite that makes us look good but it means nothing unless you go out there and play a good game just as you talk it.

We have a poor squad, no leaders, no defence, no creativity, a captain and vice-captain likely off in the summer, and a shiiiit-load of players on loan that we just cannot shift. Is this squad playing beneath itself or is this its level? We can only really say that Son is below par because we know what else he's acheived. For everyone else, bar Kane who's having a good year, maybe this is their ceiling. This is it. This is as good as it gets.

We are the new Everton. How on earth has it come to this?

When I said the Poch sacking back in 2019 was the wrong move, never in a million years did I think we'd end up quite like this. Well done Sandy, this is what you wanted. Let's hear it for the serial winners

Just a reminder - the Bournemouth side that outplayed us and won 3-2 at our gaff last week lost 4-0 at home to West Ham. Let that sink in for all those that think we're too good to go down next year.

Thursday needs to (and surely will) be toxic.

The players, management, and board are an absolute disgrace...

right at season ticket renewal time... we are still the most expensive in the land, and probably the world.

I think there is only one decision to make here, Stellini is obviously out of his depth and I don’t think the players respect him enough.
But continuing with Conte Mk2 was never going to work and if anything it has set us back completely.
Having said that, I think the players need to sit down and have a long and hard look at themselves, they let the club and the fans down yesterday and deserve all the brick bats they are getting.

Couple that with the fact that Poch will likely be Chelsea manager by Thursday and it has all the ingredients to be all out war. I'd genuinely be concerned for Levy's safety.

What would really send a message is if we sang the Poch song regardless of his position. If he's confirmed as Chelsea manager and the Spurs fans continue to sing his name, that would be really telling.

Levy had a get out of jail free card and he didn't feckin' play it. If he'd appointed Poch, he'd have the players and fans on his side within a heartbeat and he's totally and utterly ignored it. Only time will tell if that was the right call but right now, on the face of it, it's increasingly clear he's made the wrong call. By all accounts, Poch was open to a return.

Staggering incompetence.

It proves he knows nothing about football. Keeping Stellini on suggests he was happy with the footballing side but upset with the outburst. The reason he was happy? We were sitting in 4th. He's a numbers man. He wasn't looking at the decline in style, control, goals scored or goals conceded. He only saw where we sat in the league. Let's be honest hear, we all saw this coming ages ago. These performances aren't a strange interim manager blip. They're a consequence of the kind of football we've been playing all year. We've been due an absolute pasting for about a year now.

The irony is that Levy doesn't want to bring Poch back to the club, but if he goes to Chelsea he is more likely to eventually come back because he'll be ticking the ex-Chelsea box that Levy loves.

Nah football fans are by their nature extremely fickle and as you'd expect your players to be stung and a tad embarrassed by yesterday if you go 1 nil up the fans will forget all about Levy til the next time you mess up.

We used to do the same with Wenger towards the end of his tenure.
