White and Gabriel was hardly a solid partnership, so chucking someone who has never played full back in at RB would just create an absolute disaster zone far greater than what we already have.

The best solution if we are that desperate to put White at CB would be to play Zinny there and put Tierney at LB. Zinny plays CM from full back anyway.

Put Saka as a right back and Trossard on the right wing ..

You need to do crazy things to beat Pep's team...

Biggest issue is during build up - partey is having to drop deeper to help out meaning we don't win the ball as much in midfield.

We're still scoring plenty of goals, but it certainly reduces the amount of sustained pressure we impose on the opponents. This leads to our defence being exposed more.

I think a back 3 would help us become more solid, but we won't create as many chances going forward. It's a difficult balance to get right at the moment - I certainly wouldn't blame arteta if he tried it and it didn't come off.

Tierney right back

Why put the left back who is uncomfortable coming off the left side on the right and leave the left back who plays in CM on the left?
Zinny makes much more sense to go RB

I won’t be surprised if Arteta changes things around at the back but it’s not the best game to be experimenting in.

If you don't change the formation, then you would lose Zinny coming into the middle from the left side to protect Xhaka's position further forward. Assuming Partey is still your DM.

Partey just moves over if Zinny is coming in from the right Hardly the biggest tactical move. Far less than Tierney being on the wrong side, coming into the centre and leaving both flanks totally exposed.

To be fair apart from the rash tackle that led to the penalty against Liverpool (which didn't cost us in the end) Holding hasn't really made any glaring mistakes.
But what does seem to have happened is that the absence of Saliba seems to have badly upset the structure of the defence especial Gabriel, even Ramsdale seems to be flapping a bit lately.
Saliba is very quick and reads the game very well and his distribution is far better than Holding's his calmness has also been badly missed.
If he had been playing Im not sure we would have won at Liverpool but we would have won at West Ham and would not have conceded so easily against Southampton

Pay close attention, it's not necessary to beat "Pep's
team", just don't LOSE to them!

btw: There is also another team in Arsenal's future called Newcastle United, just ask Spurs.

It is actually because that interferes with Arteta's left/ right footed philosophy.

At the moment, Xhaka drops into the left back position behind Martinelli to cover for Zinny.

Thats how it works, a counterclockwise motion to make sure Martinelli does not need to come back, bringing the opposing full back into our own half to overlap whoever is playing on the left wing for the opposition.
