It's been an OK season but it reminds me of the collapse last season when we were competing for top 4
Oh please. It has been a great season for Arsenal.
You’ve far exceeded expectations.

Explain…
Even if you finish second it’s still a pretty good season given recent history.
People don’t seem to understand the concept of changing perspective as the season goes. Yes, we’d have all taken this prior to the season’s start, but once it does and the team put themselves in this position only for it to fall away so limply, how can it be viewed as anything other than disappointing? If the players don’t also feel that this is a huge disappointment of a season, then they really aren’t the winners we hope they are. This should hurt and that’s where they’ll hopefully get stronger. But yes, really hurting season now.
Arsenal are one of those sides, like Spurs that you never fancy when the pressure is on.
It was so obvious to me pre World Cup that you lot would bottle it.

100% spot on. Just like last season, disappointing
Well it has been a great season whether you appreciate that or not.
Chelsea spent money too. So did Spurs. Ditto Manu. If you can’t celebrate how far this team has come in three years, then you are better following another club.
A point at Liverpool is not a bad result; agree it was careless to drop point at Westham and Southampton.
The building will continue in the summer and we will be more competitive.

You can't forget where you were and what the expectations were at the start of the season just because you exceed them.
Thats like your boss giving you a target, you working hard to hit them, then the boss changing the target and dismissing your performance to that stage.
Of course lessons have to be learnt from the last 4 games. Of course the squad needs depth - it was a squad built for trying to break into the top 4.
ud have taken it start of the season but from the position you got yourselves in has to be a big disappointment. Lot of your key players are young and there should be a lot more to come. Young manager to so, CL first time in 6 years? its been a relatively good season even if you dont win it and in the right direction but not great. Though thats subjective if a fans loved it and thinks its been great then fair play

Chelsea have had a terrible season - doesn’t make ours great
Man Utd have had a bad season- again that doesn’t make ours great
A point at Liverpool being 2-0 and in control of the game with our position in the league - is a bad result
Some context and perspective
Arsenal should never have let Tony Adams get old!
We've been foing this gor the last 10 years. Every season around Feb March or April we bottle it. Watch your win our meaningless games in May to clinch 4th spot. We've been mentally weak and we never seem to get over the disappointments psychologically. Switched off at 1-0 down as I knew we wouldn't muster a shot or string a pass together! The previous 2 games should have put us 4 points ahead. Pathetic!
We've been here. This is not trying to win titles in 90s, 00s etc. The Pep era is a different ball game. 95 points is the minimum needed to compete with this juggernaut.

Well you started by alluding that Arteta has spent big and I countered that other clubs have spent even bigger.
We still have a Europa squad; we need to build it up to a champions league squad and go again next season.

I haven’t. But it doesn’t make it any less disappointing. Once you put yourself in position to win a title abs it ends in the manner it seems to be going, it’s difficult to look upon it as “great”. City were always going to catch us, however, had it not been handed to them like this after the position the team put themselves in it’d be a much less hitter disappointment to swallow.
I hear what you’re saying, but I hope the players don’t look at it in anything like the way you are and take the disappointment as fuel for next season and beyond.
You`ve had a perfect storm this season to get you where you are but City are light years ahead. Next season you will be back competing for 5th & 6th

The perfect storm of playing well and winning games and being the second best team in the league?
I think at the point we were saying that, it had been a great season.
Unfortunately there's been a few factors in play the last month or so, but essentially we have gone onto bottle it. We need to finish strongly to lift the mood around the club going into next season.

Ah right, so it's moved from the end of this season to end of next season.
Don't be so ridiculous. It has been a very good season, you weren't even in any conversation regarding winning the title but yet were in it at the end of April.
The trick is now building off of this season.
