Reckon there's a good player in there but I don't reckon he's interested in becoming it at Spurs

How much was Ben White?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeah but Ben White actually fullfilled his potential.

Copa and World cup winner means nothing if you struggle to kick a ball properly.

We need to see him around better defenders. I think he's a better defender than what we're seeing currently and we have already seen it. Sometimes good defenders can be part of poor defences. It was like that back when King was playing.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

King was diffetent gravy to Romero. He didn't constantly make rash tackles in the penalty area, and see Red like Romero does.

Romero may come good, but not holding my breath.

I posted an article on him yesterday. He doesn’t have a footballing brain and struggles to control his emotions / anger on the pitch. I need to check the stats but seems to give away free kicks for fun, often . I really don’t get the hype. He may be slightly athletic, moody and aggressive but that’s no good when you have poo for a brain and clearly struggle to think about the consequences of your actions.

King, Toby, Verts, Woodgate, even Dawson crap all over this fella.

Bookmark this thread, he will NEVER be a Spurs great.

Romero - He’s up there with one of the best CB’s we’ve had in a while. Reads the game well, aggressive and can also play out from the back comfortably. The way he’s going, we’ll some enough be able to mention him in the same vein as Vertonghen and Alderweireld. Looking forward to seeing him after a good pre-season and then a full season with us.

Over a year ago pal. Even Dier was playing well a year ago. A bit of form at the time pulled the wool over my eyes, he was a breathe of fresh air. This season he’s been atrocious.

Mr Positive, you can pipe down.

do you think it would be fair to say that the kind of person who could watch a player with "poo for a brain" and conclude that they "read the game well" must themselves have "poo for a brain" in order to reach that conclusion?

I know King was much better but I also don't think Romero is a bad defender. Lots of good players can be made to look average in poor teams when they are brought down to the level of those they play with.

Oh, poor cwissy is upset that his favourite player is being criticised. Mug

will take that to mean you'd prefer not to answer that question then

Are you thick? Last season, from what I watched he read the game well. This season, he doesn’t. Do you understand the simple fact that a year ago he showed promise, and this season he’s rubbish? It’s like talking to a kid.

He needs the right coach to get hold of him and some proven quality to play alongside, along with a midfield that can retain the ball, which will give the defence less to do.

ah ok I think I understand, so

good form = a mere illusion, nothing of substance behind it at all. if they play well then it is possible that they are still bad

bad form = an accurate depiction of what the player really is. if they badly then that means they are definitely bad, any previous good form was just a lie.

We can’t sell him…

After getting rid of Dier, Sanchez, Tanganga, Davies etc… we would have no one left, apart from him!!

The amount of goals we are conceding is very worrying… relegation form!!!

I think Romero when he will play against a proper CB, will be a different player to the one who is having to cover for his team mates mistakes.
I would keep him and add quality CBs alongside him.
