Pretty sure everyone will have a different opinion here.

Personally Romero and Perisic need to go, I don't rate either of them. Along with Dier and Lenglet. I'd arguably keep Sanchez, certainly ahead of Romero.

Son is a weird one... a year ago if you'd suggested selling I'd laugh my arris off. But he's had such a poor season.

The rest I probably agree with, but let's be honest Kane will be off so it depends how much we get as to how much we spend. I have no idea what's in the transfer kitty, has the £200m come from anywhere?

You will get more than 50m from selling Kane.

Getting rid of players isn't really easy unless you're willing to pay off their contracts.
No one wants these castoffs.
Levy has to pull the finger out and get the first step right which is getting a manager.

From an outside perspective and i'm working on the assumption you go to a back 4 under a normal manager.

New GK / Forster
Udogie / New LB
Romero / Davies
New CB / Dier
Porro / Spence
New CM / Bissouma
Bentancur / New CM
New CM / New CM
Son / New LW
New RW / Kulusevski
New CF / Richarlison

The centre back really needs to be of the highest quality because the full backs are going to leave them exposed. As will the defensive midfielder.

Would be tempted to find a technical problem with the Porro obligation to avoid signing him and get a more solid RB or sell Spence if that obligation is water tight.

10 players probably 11 if you don't trust Richarlison. Gonna need to make those free transfers work.

Well it certainly makes sense. Manager is obviously the first step. Get one that mirrors your style and ambition.

I think its reasonable to discuss who should be considered to be sold and replaced. Lets face it we will have seen far more of them than any new manager.

What always concerns me in these situations is Levy wanting a new man to give player A B or C chance, to save money, when we all know tat player A B or C aint good enough.

None of our many managers in recent years have been able to rely on the likes of Sanchez, Dier, Tanganga, NDombele, Sessegnon and any progressive manager will see that Lloris is not a modern GK. There is more of a discussion around the likes of Gil, Lo Celso, Lenglet, Spence, Emerson, Hojbjerg.

I see no harm in speculating/discussing where the changes in the squad need to or could happen.

Selling our rubbish we should get near to £100 million, add our budget which is probably £100-£150. If we can’t sign a good GK, 2 CB’s and 2 midfielders then I give up.

I don't think we can really speculate on who should come or go because we're judging them on the last two years under Conte's system. You never know, if we play a more progressive way with a higher line, you might find that Sanchez, with his speed, is a preferred centre back to any of the others. Same for those on loan. Realistically if we were to enter the market and assume we only get conference league football, are we really likely to get better players than Lo Celso and Ndombele? I'd sooner stick them in front of a new manager to see what he thinks of them. Remember, Salah and De Bruyne bombed under Jose so I think we've been very quick to judge them. I'd be more than happy to see them reintroduced because if there's one thing we've lacked, aside from a solid defence, it's creativity.

Even Reguillon I wouldn't rule out him coming back into the fold. If we play in a four, he might fit the bill more than anyone else at left back.

Everything depends on the new manager, which is why even though I accept due diligence is important, it's crucial that whoever comes in the door has the keys pretty much June 1st. No more delays. Get it done so he can assess what he has before entering the market.

Sell:

Sanchez & Rodon - Replace with Ndicka

Sess - Replaced with Udogie

Winks, Lo Celso & Ndombele - Replace with Maddison type player

Return Danjuma & Moura leaving - Replace with Maximilian type player

Hugo to leave on a free - Replace with Oblak, Raya or Kelleher at a push

Kuluksevski and Porro I feel haven’t done it for varying reasons this season. But on reflection I think we should keep both. Perisic I would keep for the last year of his contract as a back up utility man.

Loan Spence and Gil and maybe Sarr to a PL club with the option of recalling in Jan.

posted on 5/5/23

Should’ve added the Maximilian type player would ideally by Mitouma but Brighton would rightly expect a ridiculous fee.

Even if we wanted to sell for peanuts we probably can't. It's not about player value or selling at the right price, it's about player contracts. The ones on high wages are reluctant to give them up. That's the issue with inflated Premier League wages being so much higher than the rest of Europe. You're shackled to the shiiiiit ones for as long as they want to stick around. We have no control. I wouldn't mind betting that if you offered Levy a chance to rip up the contracts of Ndombele and Lo Celso and let them become free agents, he would do. He's not expecting a fee. It's all about problematic wages.

posted on 5/5/23

I can actually see Lo Celso end up at Villa wages shouldn’t be a problem. Winks at someone like Bournemouth or maybe even Rangers. NDombele is difficult one because of his high wages. I would offer Napoli another loan for a nominal fee, they will likely lose more key players this season.

Did he start a lot for Napoli or was he a managerial frustration much like he was with us? I don't really know how well it's gone personally for him but if he was getting regular game time playing for the Italian Champions and CL quarter finalists, it means he can absolutely do a job for us under the right manager.

40 appearances across all competitions. 1,300 minutes or something like that. Spaletti generally spoke well about him in any articles I seen.

Nah. Romero is trash. If he hadn't cost £50m everyone would be raging at him. He's a liability and part of the worst defences we've had for years.

Sanchez is flawed, but he at least acts like an adult on the pitch and has contributed positively to our team at times.

but do you think with everything that's happened during his time with u (criticisms of him) and since his departure (all the shiiit shows), he'll have zero interest in performing for us, let alone staying?

I personally do
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Talk in the media that we'll cancel his contract, obvs mutually with a pay off, but just not his £10m annual wages!

No one will pay his wages so no one will buy him and he's the sort of character that would rather take £10m and rot for a year than find a new home on (much) lesser wages. He'd be a fool to enter the last year of his contract as one bad injury and no fecker is gonna take a risk on him and his career and earning power is gone (although he'd console himself with the £60m earned from THFC!!!)

Youd expect Levy to play hard ball with players like this . I dunno how much of his wages we paid this year but is there any point in doing it again? Why not just offer him £5m to cancel his contract and then he's off the balance sheet and free to play somewhere else and wont be out of pocket.

Shame...going out on an embarrassing 6-1 defeat where he waved at the ball twice as it flew into the back of the net.

He has declined but he deserves our respect and gratitude.

Do you remember when he first came, he was always flying off his line, sweeping up. In recent years hes become rooted to it!

It isn't the player's fault in these circumstances that they continually get picked despite it being obvious they are on the decline.

Club captain and long standing player,he can't say to the manager 'I'm no longer fit for duty'.He's been a great servant and it isn't his fault that he hasn't been replaced
