Condolences guys. Thought you were unlucky yesterday. You played some good football at times and looked the more likely until the penalty incident. I think its a penalty although he definitely goes down too easily. It shouldn't have been a red card but unfortunately it's the rules of the game as he didn't play the ball. I think the rules need looking at because so much more should be taken into consideration. For example, if that was Smith in on goal then I don't think he goes down as he will have seen it as a good opportunity to score. Also it was Johnson. A defender who had the ball on his weakest foot. He wasn't going to score but things like that aren't taken into account.

You have plenty to be hopeful about for next season and I see lots of similarities from our first season back in this league. We have learnt and pushed on. Its a tough league but you will be better placed for it next season.

But what needs looking at are not the sort of things you mention as how can a ref be expected to take things like that into account in a split second? No, what needs looking at is the standard of refereeing which, let's face it, is abysmal. It is so poor that the response of players is to fall over at the slightest challenge knowing that the ref will take the easy option - that is, not exercise judgement or common sense but automatically give a free kick. No wonder that so many stupid penalties are awarded. I've lost count of the number awarded against us for minimal to non-contact in the area. Players are guilty of blatant cheating but it's up to the refs to see through it. Unfortunately they do not seem capable of spotting right from wrong.

As to yesterday, in my opinion we were the better side and I think would have won were it not for that referee. You would still have been in the play offs so no skin off your nose (not that I'm saying you should have played a second eleven, for example). I do agree with you that with what could well have been 93 instead of 96 points you should most certainly get to the Championship and I hope you do. If you should fail to reach the Final (anything can happen) then that would highlight how unfair the current format is. My own suggestion for reform is that only three sides should be involved. The team finishing third should get a direct pass to the Final and the teams finishing fourth and fifth should play off over two legs, the overall winner going to the Final.

Whilst I think the penno was super soft and I despise the cheating that goes on to get these decisions, I am more exasperated by some of the other stuff that goes on unpenalised at corners and thus more inconsistency. Yesterday Forsyth was literally wrestled to the ground in plain sight, nothing given but when he gets up and his assailant trips over him a free kick is given against Forsyth. There was so much more contact in that but nothing ever happens and it seems to be acceptable. Incredible.

Lets all spare a thought for Millwall. 3-1 up and cruising to a PO spot, only to lose 3-4 and end-up 8th.
