I don't think it damages their reputation as I think it was always expected. Doesn't really bother me either, they could be doing a lot worse.

I thought you were an advocate for freedom of speech, maybe I was wrong.

The fact is some people like the monarchy and some don’t.

Me I’m nonplussed, I liked the queen but she’s gone god bless her.

If people want to not partake in the National anthem that is their right, freedom of speech fackin says so.

Freedom of speech applies to everyone and that’s that.

Even Liverpool fans<ok€

I am an advocate of freedom of speech, I don't see anything in the article that suggests otherwise.

Fair play to them for being upfront about it. I dont think Scousers worry what others think. 84% of Conervative voters are in favour of a Monarchy while only 48% of Labour voters are in favour according to a you gov poll. Playing the anthem was like asking them to have their chips wrapped in the Sun. Liverpool is a great place and it's good to see the city on the up in spite of this poxy government.

Do you think the drowning out of the National Anthem at Anfield today is a good look for the Liverpool fanbase?
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Not sure about the fanbase but it was a bloody awful look for the royals.

This is true. I wonder what people tuning in from other countries thought when they tuned in and saw that. I imagine it was a departure from what they would have expected.

Some fan bases boo an outdated monarchy while another fan base break into an ground illegally, postpone the game all because the owners refused to pay for a leaky roof. Wonder how that looked abroad?

I wasn't criticising! I think it's good that it sent out a more realistic portrayal of society abroad!

Just as I know plenty of Liverpool fans would respect the reasoning behind United's protests against the owners.

Tbf my comment was a bit ambiguous but genuinely wasn't criticising

Lol imagine they tried to play the anthem at UK grounds north of the border, apart from Rangers, obviously. Scotland meant to be part of the kingdom as well.

Living it up whilst 90% of the country struggles to get by!

If you think us booing the national anthem is the problem then that’s on you.

No biggy really, it is just another little thing Liverpool has that they try and drill home to be different. It is like the gothic niece or nephew desperate to stand out with shat hair, tattoos and piercings.
