If you were to put together a top EPL striker list most of those names wouldn’t be in it. Kane would be. Nuff said.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Football didn`t start in 1992 though did it, or am I missing something? So this article is about the best English goalscorers of all time in England.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
In truth it didn’t really start until around 95/96 when Wenger came into the prem. before then it was just amateurish kick and rush ball.
Also Rush, English?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Played in the English top division.

Correct.
However, to quote you:

I love how a Varpool fan goes on about Kane scoring pens, even though Spurs don't get all that many pens, in fact every year we see several cast iron pens waved away. On the flip side, Varpool are given more pens than Spurs every season, and most of them are not even fouls, as could be seen the other night v Fulham

Only 3 of those guys are post-80's. I thought it was easier for strikers to score nowadays Sandy?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Spurtle, should be mate with the balloon for a football, billiard ball football pitches, not very good defenders, and goalies making howlers. All it proves though is how much better strikers were back in the day.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I couldn't disagree with you more but ok. Enhancements in training, medicine, fitness will help players more today than back then. The standard has got better, it's why you don't see so many of these crazy scorelines like you did back then, that goes for domestic and international football. It's why it's difficult comparing modern greats to old time greats. Why not just accept they are great in their own eras and leave it at that?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
And you need to accept that football didn't start with the Prem, and all the best goalscorers are pre Prem. That may change over time. But as of today, 20 strikers have still scored more than Harry in the top division. So never sure why everyone waffles on about having to beat Shearer's record, he does not hold the record.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I do accept that though, that's kind of the point I'm making, I'm not bringing old time goal scorers into it because that is an entirely different era, that's why when discussing Kane or Haaland I'd rather focus on the PL era where they should be focused on.
You seem to be annoyed people don't mention the old guys more, well that's because it was a) a totally different era, and b) before most people's time and less relevant.
Anyway for Spurs to have two such strikers Kane and Greaves play most of their careers for them is absolutely phenomenal.
Sandy…….in that list on 243 goals is Bobby Smith, who was another Spurs Legend and a vastly underrated. He also scored 13 goals in 15 games for England which is pretty good going too.

,
Something that goes largely unmentioned but Kane has more goals away from home than at home, which is amazing, especially playing for spurs who have a lot of London derbies away plus the other top 6 clubs.
Also his record in London derbies is unbelievable
Kane has probably been robbed of at least another 20 goals at this stage of his career, through nailed on penalties that have not been given.
Imagine where Kane would now be numbers wise if he had come through the ranks at a club that wears a red shirt, what with all the extra spot kicks, benefit of doubt and downright bias he would have enjoyed

What about the same amount he dived to get?
Honestly think he would score 60-70 goals a season at Man Utd even if he is terrible in front of goal by his usual high standards as him being terrible in front of goal is better than any of our players.😂

Ted, that would be Billy Walker. One of Aston Villa's greatest players. He also managed Sheff Wed to an FA Cup win in the 1930s, and Nottm Forest in 1959 to another FA Cup win, a match I remember well.
60-70 goals a season at Man Utd
hafi you’ve gone insane. Not even messi a player far superior to inane would do that
Levy needs to be offering Kane a new 5 year deal and make him up there with the highest paid players in the PL, something like 350K a week plus 20k per goal and assist. Around £20m a year in wages for Kane will be cheaper than trying to replace what he brings.

Congratulations to Harry Kane on

Well the record goalscorer can hardly be irrelevant just because he played in a different era.
The wheel was like invented in a different era, but it is very relevant today.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It's irrelevant to Haaland breaking the record recently because it was a PL record not an all time one. Just because he is receiving acclaim right now it doesn't mean people think the old guys weren't great.

No such thing as Prem records mate. Don't recognise the. Just a name change.

Genius, the Smith on the list was.actually Joe Smith, played for Bolton in the 1920s. Bobby Smith scored just under 200, but was a great goalscorer for Sours, and one of my favourite ever Spurs players. Another player Chelsea sold to Spurs.

👍 I defer to your superior knowledge, but just shy of 200 top flight goals is something to acknowledge🤔

Levy needs to be offering Kane a new 5 year deal and make him up there with the highest paid players in the PL, something like 350K a week plus 20k per goal and assist. Around £20m a year in wages for Kane will be cheaper than trying to replace what he brings.
