This is going to be a good week for rangers fans on here, because they won a game against us and there work wont be super busy like it has been after other old firm matches this season...

I do prefer the ange interviews when he cannot look the interviewer in the face and stares at his shoes, doesn't happen often

A bit like most bears for a number of years lol 😂

Yeah, if only there were a way of influencing what’s said on articles. Can’t think what though.

When the bhoys win its usually just a week of sniping and jokes about rangers.
First time we win its just eh don't matter, no one cares, dead rubber.
There's the next few days fixed 😀

Have to be honest and say that once the game was over, I left the pub to go and meet Mrs Ginger then carried on with the rest of a great weekend as if nothing had happened.

Was quite surprised to read that Postecoglou appeared to be really angry about it all and saying that he’d put out that team to win. When I saw the team sheet I thought exactly the opposite.

Either he’s playing the part or he needs to rethink some of these line ups. We had big players missing through injury but if he’d wanted to win, surely Maeda and Kyogo would have started? Maybe even Mooy.

Strange one in my books.

Nonsense. Virtually every Celt on here was on here before and after the game yesterday.

Admittedly to say it doesn’t matter and it’s a dead rubber. But weekday workloads aren’t going to magically triple this week or anything.

To be honest pointy does it matter who comes on or stays away after a,win or a loss.

The bhoys on here are more than capable of taking the mick, no pun intended, between themselves.

Just seems childish oh such and such is not on, or not appeared.

I get it if a poster has been giving it really big links about what either team will do then vanishes for a fortnight.
Not too many bears left anyway, I pop on after a win or loss as does lauders etc and apologies if I have left any bear out.

We leave our opinion then leave you bhoys to rip the pash till the following midweek usually.

None from me, way I look at it pointy was it was more a relief for beale to get a win finally v celtic, was good to see players like cantwell and raskin giving us far more energy and effort in midfield and if beale can sign a few more players with energy next season hopefully is a lot closer.

Call Sign said yesterday I hope rangers are not hanging their hopes on cantwell.

Cantwell has been excellent last twice v celtic and I am sure he will become huge for rangers, few more like him and it could be game on next season.

Hope beale does not take that result to heart and try and keep some of the serial lovers on.
.if so it will be the same next season.

Lovers- losers.

Yeah, I’d agree with that. Obviously in the context of this season it doesn’t much matter beyond giving us a very bloody nose and wiping the smile off Celtic fans’ faces for a few days, but in a broader sense it might matter a great deal. Beale would have been in a sticky situation failing to beat Celtic again and you would have gone into the summer with the same doldrums and relying on some good transfer news to cheer you up.
This has given Rangers some optimism for next season.

Totally agree with that. Never a starting XI if you’re really serious about winning. Also arguably the 3rd OF in a row where Ange has started a player who isn’t match fit … Mooy, Hatate, yesterday Abada. Got away with it in the first two. We’re heading for a phenomenal treble, and by and large have been excellent domestically … but our results in the OF games have kinda glossed over some pretty mediocre performances in those games. Think Ange will be aware of that though.

Of course I wanted to win yesterday but now we have this belief they can challenge and a belief that Beale is the man.

Good. He'll be gone by Christmas and we will he on for 3IAR

It’s disappointing in hindsight. Calmac wasn’t up to his usual high standards, and that fxcked us. You could argue he wasn’t allowed to play his usual game but the result is the same.
Usually Maeda would’ve ran Tav ragged, but he was too influential.
And if Oh scores, it’s a different game. Kyogo buries that, so the decision to deliberately not play your best player bites Ange. He gets credit when he gets it right, but he called yesterday wrong.

Yes he got it wrong but his prematch comments about looking at next season I suspect a few players were getting trialled as such. Players like Bernabei, Ralston and Oh, maybe even Abada after his injury. Throw them into the game that points wise is meaningless but will still be a cauldron. Can they do it as a starter to be a big player next season?

In my opinion they all failed. They are not as good as the players they started ahead of.

That is what Ange won't be happy about.

Not an entirely worthless exercise then. If Ange wants equal quality coming off the bench, he’ll need signings again.

Agreed. A defeat that will ultimately be forgotten when we remember a Treble (hopefully). However, Ange knows what players will not cut it long term.

I'll even throw in Kobayashi. Not convinced by him yet.

There‘s been a lot of talk about how Beale is just a salesman etc, but also how Celtic haven’t turned up in the last few games against us. And that was before yesterday. It’s a strange coincidence that eh

Beale is very honest. But he’s clearly a good coach and sets the team up very well. Difference yesterday to previous old firm games was the performance of our players. Cantwell did what Tilman couldn’t. McCrorie gave the defence confidence and seemed like we were higher, with him actually coming off his line and making a huge save. Whether he can translate being a good coach to being a good manager over a season needs to be seen.

But strange to see Celtic fans writing him off before yesterday given how he’s done. Happy to see that, maybe some of the players were too confident yesterday, Ange clearly wasn’t happy though and don’t think he’ll hold the same negative view of Beale

Beale said yesterday that recruitment in the summer was still key, so positive he’s not taking yesterday to mean anything more than it was.

posted on 14/5/23

I'd say the biggest difference in terms of our performance yesterday was the lack of mental defensive mistakes. It was a defensive mistake that lost us the cup semi, and while our finishing has been really poor all season, we'd have run the league a hell of a lot closer if we hadn't kept gifting goals. If Beale can sort that out and bring in a reliable goalscorer that doesn't have matchstick ankles then that's a lot of the gap bridged already in terms of seeing off the other 10 teams IMO and the old firm games will have even more bearing on who takes the title.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Fair comment in terms of assessing who is/isn’t up to it in a cauldron atmosphere. That back 4 wasn’t … Starfelt included IMO.

One thing I forgot to say earlier, which I’ve also raised in the past … I don’t think we can get away with not playing an out and out DM in games like that. I know Ange doesn’t favour that, our front 6 are pretty much always 3 attacking mids, 2 wingers and a striker. CalMac sits deeper, but he’s still basically an AM playing the sitting role. Essentially means we’ve a front 6 who couldn’t tackle a fish supper … even Pep doesn’t do that. Rangers always have a midfield enforcer, sometimes 2 like yesterday.

posted on 14/5/23

All that would have been learned yesterday from both managers is that Cantwell, McCrorie and Raskin are big improvements on the previous dross but that a few more are needed.

On the other side, Postecoglou can’t put out a side with half a dozen first team players missing and expect a result.

Both sides will recruit further so it’s impossible to guess at next seasons outcome other than Celtic are still the most dominant and settled squad. Freshening up is definitely needed though.
