Culer, I think football all across Europe is sub standard. Including the Prem. Some awful defending in the Prem right now, and goalies are a joke with the amount of absolute howlers they concede.
Sandy prefers the days when the keeper had to ask a defender to do the goal kicks.
At least Inter have faced teams with proper CL pedigree - Porto, Bayern, Barça, Milan, Benfica. Madrid just seem to get drawn against one farmers' league side after another. Not the first year either.

football is lightyears ahead of the level it once was.
you take a team from the 70/80's and pop is straight into the play one of the EPL teams of today the teams of today would wipe the floor with them.
the fitness, the pace and intensity of the game today is miles ahead of what it used to be.
the analysis and tactical side has improved massively.
the game is almost night and day compared to what it used to be.
It may have been competitive in terms of competition amongst themselves but in terms of one of they teams playing a modern day team. it would be a slaughtering. night and day levels of professionalism

Leagues should be judged on how well their sides would do in Europe's top competitions and United, Brighton, Liverpool and Newcastle would currently all make the semis of the CL. We would then have the likes of Brentford, Villa, Chelsea and Fulham in the semis of the Europa and West Ham, Wolves, Palace and Everton in the semis of the conference league. PL teams would occupy every single semi final spot in every competition.
