You can tell you're not a threat when the big guns wish you well.
(PS - I'm a Spurs fan and yes, we're even worse than you)
For what it's worth, don't listen to some Spurs fans saying Poch won't win a thing for you. You have an absolute diamond of a manager incoming. It makes me weep thinking of him joining you guys but man, get him on your side and he'll do really well, especially given the amount of young players you have, which will help for his high press style. Those players won't know what's hit them. Double sessions, recorded training sessions so no one can sleep on the job, everything. I can't for the life of me understand why Levy didn't try to get him back himself.

nostalgia is not a reason to go back.
I love Poch and if he returned i would have been ok with that but i have my doubts as to whether it would be a good idea getting the band back together.
Poch is a very good manager but i think the question is more about the structure around him and not least the trigger happy owner. They guy who gave Potter 5 years and sacked him after 6 months. There will be financial/FFP pressure succeed quickly. UCL is an absolute must and the competition is just getting harder and harder. Poch had the luxury of time at THFC and the fortune of the big clubs largely falling away in the 2 seasons we were chasing the title. It will be an interesting watch!

Nostalgia isn't the reason I wanted him back. He's a brilliant manager. That's why. Objectively speaking he would have been the right man for us even if you put emotion/nostalgia aside. He knew the club, knew the restrictions, knew the owners and for that reason represented a safe bet at a time where we can't afford any more screw ups.
This isn't a thread about what he offers Spurs anyway, it's what he now offers Chelsea. I get that Boehly has made mistakes, he's admitting as much by hiring Potter and flooding the squad with new players. It was always an impossible task. For what it's worth, I actually agree with the approach he's taking. He could have been on easy street by keeping Tuchel and not really caring how they get success but he wants more than that. He wants the City model. He wants to win, sure, but he also wants stability and attractive football. Chelsea have never had that during the RA years and I think he wants to repair that. It's the age old Brian Clough quote "I want to win it like you did, but I want to do it better". You can't criticise him for that. He's made mistakes and he'll make more but given the scale of his ambition, we can laugh all we want, but across London at Spurs, we've got an owner with zero ambition who regards 4th as success. I'd rather be at the bottom of a ladder I want to climb than half way up one that leads nowhere.

Surprise, surprise Fridge sucking up to the enemy. Poch is so average, and well suited for a scatter gun club like Chelsea. Six months at most before he gets his P45.
