Close? Think it would have made him THE top scorer wouldn't it?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Yeah. Podence and Neves were the top scorers last season with 6 goals.

Catching up a bit here, if Chiquinho is off to Stoke and we're selling Podence, with Adama already gone that's going to leave us seriously short. Bit surprised at that. Must mean new forwards incoming surely.

I know Adama Traore is out of contract, but has there been no interest from other clubs? Haven't heard anything.

posted on 22/7/23

I think Traore is currently without a club.

Could mean that Ait-Nouri will be staying and played as a forward. Whether we play 2 or 3 up front, we should have enough depth, even if Podence does go.

Great observation wolfie

Be ridiculous for us to not bring in at least one new forward given our scoring record since Raul got injured. We do have Cunha, Sarabia, Neto, Hwang, Fabio, Sasa but none of those look like prolific scorers to me.

All of the teams in the top half of the table last season scored at least 20 goals more than us, so we do need to find significant improvement in goal scoring

Top button men cost a premium but they make the most significant difference

Ryan Giles hasn’t travelled with the squad to Portugal for Tuesday’s game against Porto which presumably means he will be moving on this summer. Middlesbrough who had him on loan last season would like to sign him permanently but it seems they might be outbid by Premier League newcomers Luton

Interested to read that Hoever, as well as his loan move, has also had a new contract. Always felt he didn't have a future with us, maybe I'm wrong.

Controversy emerging on ffp. Newcastle selling St Maximim to a club in Saudi under the same ownership. The inflated price of £30m will certainly help the geordies avoid ffp issues. Who decides the fee when the owners are selling to themselves?

After watching Man Cheaty get away with blue moon murder, there’s no chance that Newcastle are going to play by the rules.

The striker Retegui seems an exciting signing if we could pull that off. Reports are that we have outbid Genoa who thought they had done a deal.

He has scored 25 goals in 35 games for Tigre in Argentina in the last year. He qualifies to play for Italy through his grandfather and made his debut for them in March against England in March and scored. Then held his place for their next game against Malta and scored again. The first Italian to score in his first two appearances since 1968.

A deal around €18m is what’s needed

Remember him being very lively against England that night, exciting prospect if we can get that deal done.

So Arthur signs a contract extension at juve, signs for fiorentina on loan for €2m and an option to buy

Podence hasn’t travelled with the Wolves squad to Portugal in a sign that he’ll soon be moving on

Isn't that a bit Coadyesque?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeah I think it is

But remember not all loan signings have a few

And I'm not sure why juve would get a fee and a contract extension for a player they're so desperate to get rid of

Wolves, "...so this kid of ours has just had a great season in the championship, one of the brightest young talents in that league, let's sell him for £5m."

I think that Wolves are seeing what a fantastic buy Forest had with MGW and thinking they will do the same with Scott.

posted on 23/7/23

I do think Scott would be a great signing. Does seem to be the best prospect outside the top flight and operates further forward than our other midfield players.

As for Giles he has been outstanding on every loan he’s had and I’d rather he was competing with Bueno for the left back slot than Cresswell.
