Richarlison - would put him top 5

Rutter

Signed to keep us up and replace/cover Bamford. 35 mil, 0 goals, handful of appearances and we got relegated. He is only 20 so there's potential, but we've effectively paid 35 for championship goals.

Is the OP a Liverpool fan? Where is Darwin Nunez?? £100 million for about 7 league goals and 59 golden chances missed?

Nunez is easily the flop of the year.

Kalvin Phillips for me.

Followed by Nunes at Liverpool.

Enzo shouldn't be on that list, not yet anyway - he's a good player.

How can anyone say it’s not Nunez? Liverpool fans claimed him as this ‘evolution of Klopp’ type signing. The number 9 that would ‘change everything we’ve seen so far from a Klopp side’ and break records.

Instead he’s Mis-fired Liverpool into the Europa League

£55m for Cucurella

I think people may regret instantly writing of some of Chelsea's signings...

That's a proper mugging

70m for Fofana has to put him in contention

Nunez still got 14 goals and 4 assists in all competitions only playing half the games.

Not a great first season but hardly a flop compared to Anthony who cost more.

Got to be Wout. He's not at Premier League level, let alone a top 4 player

Not when Antony exists son.

Don’t forget you’ve spent over a billion for a couple of league cups and a Europa league

Enzo has been very good when I’ve seen him.

Was their best player against us last week by an absolute country mile. Twice as good as anyone else they had on the pitch.

Antony easily

Richarlison has been a massive waste of time & money. Hugely overrated coz he gets a game for a bang average Brazil

I just don’t get the Mudryk signing, hasn’t looked special in the slightest. I keep reading he’s got some great potential, if that’s true you don’t spend £70m on potential. Sort of player you risk spending £20m on.

Antony hasn’t been great but he’s helped us get top 4, has actually contributed in quite a few games, works hard and we are seeing improvements. He’s also a player the manager knew exactly what he was getting and wanted it, it’s not even comparable to Mudryk.

The amount United paid for Anthony (show pony) and Sancho (massively overhyped) show just how crazy the transfer mkt is

Indeed. Chelsea have spent so much on players I think people forget. What is it, 75m on Fofana? 88m on Mudryk? Nobody else really comes close.

Enzo looks like a superb player and probably worth the fee. Mudryk may come good. Chelsea's problem is the incoherence of the recruitment drive: too many players at once, not enough attention to the profiles they needed. I'm not sure any of the players were actually bad.

Enzo definitely deserves to be in there. When you cost over 100m you best be better than Fred.

Nunez is another one that is getting let off by his own fans, yeah he's got great physical attributes but his finishing is so erratic and his touch is worse than Lukaku.

Mudryk has to be on for the fee, still think all 3 of these could end up being good. Nunez with the lack of technical qualities has it the hardest but he could well become effective.

Antony completely bang average season too.

Special mention for some I missed from the article.

Fabio Vieira - Adds nothing and struggling to get any minutes, wasted 30m.

Koulibaly - Big stiff idiot.

Anthony Gordon - For costing 40m, completely mad.

Joe Aribo - From scoring in the Europa final to not making Southampton's squads

posted on 30/5/23

Think Nunez and Antony are similar in that they've performed under their fee but they've also both contributed to some good moments/results.

I don't think either are flop of the season which should be reserved for the players who have done virtually nothing like Mudryk and Gordon.
