If we are going for Mount then I can only assume that he’s Eriksen’s replacement in the 11. Maybe the club have identified that he’d actually be better off operating from deeper than he typically has for Chelsea & England.
It also makes the link to Kim Min-Jae seem quite credible as he’s a good passer of the ball. But if we are going to spend big on a “not-FDJ” type midfielder, I’d have thought we’d be better off looking at Caicedo. There’s also the homegrown consideration to take into account.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It indicates a slight change in midfield shape to me. I was reading last year about how the midfield shape changed over ETH’s time with Ajax and that in his last season he used Alvarez as the dm, Berghuis as the attacking mid and Gravenberch stationed higher but floating back and forward between the lines to help with ball progression based on the game state.
Could be that he’ll look to implement something similar with Bruno, Mount and Casemiro. Might be that Bruno is often tasked with dropping deeper to help progress the ball, as he often has this season, than Mount given the gulf in quality on the ball between the two.
We’ll really need to improve the build up play from the defence it this is what the manager has in mind, though. So a cb, rb and gk will be massively needed.

I'd read the same thing (if not the exact same article) about ETH's 4-3-3 just a day or so ago and it argued having Casemiro sitting behind Bruno & Mount doing a kind of shared box to box role.
My concern with that is that Bruno, full of running though he is, is fairly weak in the challenge and frankly I've not seen enough of Mount beyond England games to say whether he's more than just a hard runner off the ball, but those two as B2B players seems to lack a bit of power and aggression off the ball (or a more natural inclined to be deeper in midfield). Think Essien in Mourinho's 4-3-3 as the archetype powerhouse B2B player, or Herrera for us when played there as less powerful but with a more natural desire to defend, screen, tackle etc.
If we were going to go the 4-3-3 route, personally I'd prefer the player coming in was a bit more rugged, powerful and physically commanding or has those natural defensive instincts. The thought of Bruno dropping deep to give the ball away 40% of the time from areas that could hurt us has me troubled!
Mount signing will allow us to tactically reinvent ourselves in midfield.
BK, depends what ETH wants from the midfield. The off the ball work of those two is pretty good for players that play in the areas of the pitch that they do, and it’s as much about counter-pressing and cutting out passing lanes to force turnovers, than it is about physically and defensively dominating the midfield. In theory, anyway, it could be balanced in and out of possession as a unit.
That said, given we need so much work on the squad, I suspect there will be some horses for courses with selection anyway. We don’t have the quality and durability in the squad to consistently field the same team that can impose themselves on all opponents.

We wanted a RW, Gakpo doesn’t play on the right, he wasn’t an option.

Neither was Antony. Nobody wanted him in the world expect ETH. There's a reason why only us got him.... At a record price for a Dutch player. That was all on him.

How do you expect more than just us to get him?

Apparently we got the Dutch Antony so I guess someone else could have got the Brazilian one.
