A classic case of an average to decent English player hyped beyond belief by biased English media and pundits that don't have any b @ 1l5 to even remotely slate him because they'll lose there careers.

At his best he's half decent. Been utterly woeful for almost 2 seasons now and how he's picked for England defies belief. He does absolutely nothing for England either. Then you realise he's the apple of Dull FA Boy Safegates eye, who sees him as prime Gullit.

Mount is that school prefect nice young boy player with the charisma and all the edge of a vanilla blamonge. Just like his ability.

Yes, but said by an Aston Villa fan, so I'll disregard, same with the Liverpool fan.
I'm hoping to get Chelsea viewpoints.

He has had a bad year, but prior to that had three outstanding seasons. Carried Chelsea to a top 4 season under Frank, back to back POTYs at Chelsea. Superb under Tuchel. Not a flashy you tube player, but when inform effective and highly influential.

If he gets his form back then he is a great signing for any club and is highly coveted by top managers Klopp, Tuchel and Ten Hag. Are they all wrong?

It seems to me that there are a lot of Chelsea fans pretty disappointed about the possibility of him leaving. Would you say that’s fair, SWTN?

It looks like Chelsea are going to have to shift a few of their academy graduates to try to help with balance of payments under FFP. Are there players you’d rather be seeing offloaded?

He is or was the poster boy of the Chelsea Academy. His dad told him to quit Chelsea when he was in the Academy, but believed he would break into the first team and went against his Dad's wishes, which makes him leaving now doublly dissapointing. I amnot sure about us shifting more graduates, but I think players like Ziyech,Pulusic, Havertz, Kovacic and others are deffo leaving

Chelsea are robbing Man Utd... Thinking of there are KdB or Salah lurking in Chelsea's fire sale then it's nothing but a mirage..

Shifting the likes of the latter will be useful if you can get decent fees, but for FFP, the huge benefit of selling academy graduates is obviously the fact that the entire sale fee nets off against your amortising spend.

If you could move on the four you listed (amongst others) there’d still be a benefit, but I reckon you’ll be making a hefty net loss on those players. Real going in for Havertz could help you a lot if they have a willingness to spend.

Maybe one or two might be renewed and loaned out to spread their fees over a longer period? Even if you end up renewing then paying part of a player’s salary whilst they’re on loan it can work out better in the long run for FFP rather than selling and taking a big hit on the transfer fee.

Mount is rather unorthodox as a midfielder, as positionally he is somewhere between a number 10, box-to-box midfielder or winger. He is tidy and reliable on the ball, amazing at pressing but also uninventive and not very exciting to watch. He is at his best stitching the attack and midfield or pressing the opposition high up the pitch.

For an attacking player he really lacks creativity or any consistent goal scoring. So as a number 10 he will be far less productive than Fernandez but could be an alternative for tactical setups in the big games.

Unfortunately, his positioning as a central midfielder is poor and nor is he particularly impressive in setting the tempo or building from the back. With some training he could be good but is a very different profile to what Manchester United need in midfield – probably more suitable for Liverpool.

I am sad to see him leave as he is a very good player. I often forget how young he is, as he can produce mature consistent performances under the right manager. However, I don’t think he will ever be of world class caliber, he reminds me more of someone like James Milner, which in my opinion is a fair compliment.

I also think it will be a good thing for his career and can totally understand his decision to leave. He needs to work under a world class manager and will be well liked by Ten Hag. United fans will like him too, as he is a good lad and is technically decent and hardworking.

Yeah good summary I'd say. He's a good kid, very reliable player and top pro although as said he isn't particularly exciting to watch so not sure how much Utd fans will appreciate him. He isn't particularly creative and apart from one season with us hasn't exactly set the world alight in goals scored.

You learn something new everyday. I never knew Tom Cleverly had a ‘prime’. How many minutes did it last?

posted on 4/6/23

Depends how ETH will use him tbf and how we’ll set up, but our match threads do have some of the worst fans, if our midfield and attack play really well in a game next season and Mount happens to ‘stitch’ them together but doesn’t get a goal or an assist then he’ll get zero plaudits. A lot goes unnoticed with midfielders.

I’d say it was in 2013 when he won as many premier leagues as your team have in the history of the competition.
