But anyway do let us know what impact the Vikings "discovery" of the Americas had on the World and why you feel it's so important to credit to them.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Why would I do that when its pointless and irrelevant to a discovery?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Why do you feel it's so important to credit the Vikings with this exactly?

----------------------------------------------------------------------
I don't.

Anyway I'm referring to the concept known as the America's not the physical landmass itself.

Seeing as this concept didn't come into existence until Columbuses time the Viking's couldn't have discovered it could they.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Of course the concept existed amongst some Europeans and not amongst other Europeans. Why? Because it had already been discovered by some Europeans. Dont be a simpleton.

Great, what was it called exactly?

Lets just rewrite all academic papers to reference work in which someone in 500AD accidentally happened on something similar that has no bearing on the work whatsoever.

Because impact has no relevance

A pointless intellectual game from a pointless person.

How is it puerile?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Because it's pointless to assign "discovery" to anyone using your reasoning.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
But why is it pointless. It isn't. You're mouth is writing cheques that your intelligence can't cash.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It's nothing more than a weak version of self refuting philosophical skepticism, a pointless intellectual game which serves no purpose.

Back when people were educated properly they got past this nonsense at the end of their undergraduate first year.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Its definitely not a game as Columbus didn't discover fack all, and neither did 99% of discoverers or inventors. You can hang on to the fantasy if you like but the phaaacts suggest otherwise.

Great, so stop referring it to as the America's and use whatever terminology was used by whoever discovered it

Seeing as it's not a pointless intellectual game that has no bearing on anything

Why would I do that? Does terminology have to play by such rules? Da FAQ is wrong with you? You reason like a black hole.

Why would you do that?

Because it's consistent with the historical accuracy you're concerned about.

Or are you not concerned about it?

I'm concerned with the history, not as much the terminology as it has no bearing whatsoever on who discovered what.

Doesn't matter what terminology you use, Columbus still didn't discover fack all

Yes it is. The fact that we're even having this conversation about 'The America's' is because Columbus was the first European to discover them.

Otherwise we'd be having a conversation about 'zug zug' or whatever someone called it who happened to discover 'zug zug' in the context of European history rather than happening across a landmass which has no bearing on anything because it has no contextual significance to the conversation we're having or the one anyone else has about that continent.

No it isn't. We're having this conversation because it was claimed that Columbus was the first European to discover America when he really wasn't and that's been clarified since but you clearly missed the memo.

Doesn't matter if you call it zug zug or America, Columbus didn't discover it in any way, shape or form.

posted on 6/6/23

I didn't miss any memo, you just swallowed the nonsense pedalled by a load of plums that stand on the shoulders of people that have paved the way for them to tear them down. Hook line and sinker. You can't even explain why you're talking about 'The America's' rather than 'zug zug', that's how much you've bought into this nonsense.

"The gravamen of the Left's case against Columbus you could readily surmise, even if the charges had not begun to appear in the press. He was a Eurocentric white male, and a Christian to boot. The European explorers and traders were cruel--as, sometimes, they were. The Europeans exterminated many Indians--as, sometimes, they did. But the big charge against Columbus is--that he discovered America.

Of course, the Left denies that he actually "discovered" anything. Amerinds were already here. They had migrated from Siberia across a land bridge at the end of the Ice Age. The answer to the question of whether Columbus discovered America, however, is philosophical. He and the other explorers discovered America for significant history; that is, history that means something in terms of art, philosophy, and science. There was no Amerind Dante, Kant, or Mozart. Before Columbus, Norsemen did land on these shores, but they left few traces. Their landings doubtless were of interest to them but led to nothing.

But the Left hates America so much that it wishes to vilify its European roots."

That was written 1990 before the Universities began churning out a load of sheep.

The 'memo' you got was deliberately spoon feed to you to make you hate everything and achieve nothing. You're nothing more than another mindless political pawn following someone else's script.'

If you were Russian k7 you'd claim Ukraine Invaded Russia, and repeat it ad infinitum on forums. Not a single thought would go towards whether that was actually correct or not.

100% accurate.

You're debating style is to just spout stupid stuff with no basis in fact and which you can't back up. Genuinely hilarious.

So why not?

The guy who discovered the wheel called it Ogogo. So why do you refer to it as the wheel when that's not what the discoverer called it? Going by your own logic, you must refer to the wheel as Agogo from this day henceforth you mental case
