Basic maths, innit.

20 teams in the PL, and 1 guaranteed winner - 5% chance.

32 teams in the CL, and 1 guarantees winner - (approx) 3.3% chance.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
92 in the Carabao Cup

The CL is clearly easier to win than the PL. Look at Liveprool over the past couple of decades. Good side, not great. Won the CL twice but only the PL once. Because the PL is much tougher to win

Have you heard of a team called Manchester City? They own Manchester and have won 5/6 league titles but haven't won a CL. Wouldn't that suggest the CL is way harder?

For everyone saying leagues are harder to win why has every league winner in history, from any country in Europe, got less European Cups?

Genuine question.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Well for a start, because the teams enter the league every season since the club formed but they only enter the European competition when they qualify…

In answer to the OP, as ever it depends on who you support.

Teams that have won a league recently would probably go for the CL.

As a United fan I’d go with the PL.

Yes, you have to qualify for the CL too, which happens less and is therefore harder to win.

If the European Cup was easier to win Utd would have more than their paltry three.

This is a question that is unfair on Spurs fans

We would lover to win anything right now...Heck bring back the Audi Cup as a major European cup

Spurs have a massive affinity with the FA Cup actually. Can see why Spurs fans would go for that.

You asked why all league winners have won the league more than they’ve won the European Cup.

It’s because they entered it less. Obviously.

What a question.

No. You just have to look at time since teams have won certain trophies. For example on Saturday, it will be 0 days since Man City last won the CL, but it will be like 40 days since they last won the PL. That is an infinite amount of time more than the time since they last won the CL, showing that the CL is easier. FA Cup somewhere in the middle.

A very quick count suggests Liverpool have won 22% of European Cup / CLs they’ve entered since its launch, and 21% of Division 1 / Premier League.

Interesting.

To win a League Cup you have to get further than all the teams who ensured that WHU were in a relegation battle for virtually the entire season.

I remember when West Ham were playing AZ in the Semi the commentator remarked that what they want for Rice is 4 times AZ's annual turnover.

The ECL will always be incredibly low hanging fruit for English teams and I fully expect Villa to win it next season.

We won the UEFA Cup in 1984 in my first year of going to Spurs (Best game I've ever been to) so European trophies are always special for me. I felt the same way about the FA Cup win in 91 and Loss (hurt in 87). Ive never felt the same about the league cup.... Yes it would be nice to shut up some of the Spurs detractors but for me it wouldn't be the same. Top 4 is a modern football phenomenon.... Now I live in the US ("win or go home" mentally) I simply can't get excited about celebrating coming 4th !!! (more money for the club & the possibility of signing better players is all fine but it really doesn't fill me with excitement.

In short I've never seen Spurs win the league or Champs League and realistically don't see it happening anytime soon so I don't worry about it

League Cup - wouldn't ever want to be in the ECL
FA Cup - wouldn't want to be back in the Europa.
CL - close though. Either would be great.

Even if city won a CL today, fact remains they won 1 CL and loads of PLs. Kinda 5hits all over the trolling point you was trying to make but it did make me laugh 😂

These troll sock accounts have dropped in quality so hard.

And a severely tainted one at that, where the rules were changed part way through and VAR was abused to gift them a COVID title. Nobody recognises it as a legitimate title apart from desperate Mousers.

Nobody disputes it but you Billy and a few sad spudders that have an allergy to teams winning trophies.
Even with VAR's help spurs can't buy a trophy 😂😂😂

Why do you make every single argument personal? Are you really this fragile that you can't take a jibe at your club?

Easiest to win is the Carabo cup. If you take it seriously you’re half way there. Most difficult the premier league. Huge element of luck in cup competitions. In terms of prestige CL most by a mile.

It cant be worked out by maths the variables are unbelievable. Easy draw maybe, what players were fit for vital games. We have seen both Chelsea and Pool win the CL but not be able to get into the top 4 of the prem that season so either way there is no true way to prove easier or harder to win either competition they are both damned difficult.

As for the questions I have to be honest barring the bragging rights and the occasional top european game against Real or Barca or one of the top sides I am not that bothered about european competitions.

Maybe its because we dont really stand much chance of winning any of them but I have been to euro finals with Spurs before and seen us win.

For me I would choose domestic cups/leagues any day of any week as european competitions do not really bother or interest me that much. I dont like the CL cos it is seeded to favour the top clubs and I cant stand the europa because teams that get knocked out of the CL can drop into it. As for the conference thing well that does not interest me at all.
