Dunno about data protection, but it shows - along with McAllister’s transfer to Liverpool - that players are getting a lot more savvy in mapping out their careers.
Mate,

Now these numbers are slightly lower but with bonuses or pension stuff or whatever they are not a million miles off. There are many more sites with different numbers. You think these sites haven't thought about data protection?
Ask any agent they'll tell you what every player earns - it is their job to share and know. NUmbers are talked openly on forums like this every day. Not a big deal.

There’s a massive difference between rumours in the press and being told outright by your employer on national radio.
For the record, with Declan’s permission his agent can sing his salary from the rooftops if he likes. That’s different
Regarding your last point, that would only really be an issue if there was one club in the picture to sign him. There will be a number of clubs competing for him so he's still in a strong position to negotiate.

Maybe, but take my club for example. We’ve been known to throw £350k a week at players like Sancho. If everyone and his dog knows his currently salary is £75k and he was offered £200k to stay at WHU, why would we offer more than £220k? We know Arsenal won’t go higher so there’s no point.
"
Speaking as someone who works in finance and deals a lot with salaries, this is a massive breach of data protection from an owner to say this on the radio. Not only that, but it now means every buying club knows exactly what he’s earning and so it could harm Declan in negotiations."
--------
Declan Rice knows where he is going to play next season at the end of May....
Rice's current wages are irrelevant to a buying club.
Rice's agents will turn up and say "our client wants £200k a week" and the buying club will have to determine whether he's worth it or not, and that will not really be influenced by what he's earning now at his current small club

correct
It's a bit pretentious on West Ham 's part. He is showing that he doesn't want to sell him while pointing out he wants 5o leave. Just an open secret a lot more open.
Mentioning that someone turned down an £xx offer is not data protection violation in anyway.
Yeh I thought it was a bit odd. But then he has always been a bit odd.
I think you're looking at it as "someone who speaks in finance" as you said. A club speaking about a players contract, or that they offered him a new one is very common.
he maybe not telling the full truth op?
If he had signed, it would be harder for him to leave. He doesn't want to do a Kane and spend his career at a club that doesn't win much (though they did win a cup recently).

Cos he isn't necessarily going to move his life 250 miles for an extra 20k a week?
