Bellingham to Real - done

Not as expensive as anyone thought.

A transfer which probably stiffs PSG out of 150m quid as well because Real will struggle to stay within their budget and go and get Mbappe this summer now.

So he waits out the season and goes for free next summer.

Unless....Mbappe rolls up at City.

There was a red on here who was convinced Liverpool would sign him because his Dad supported Liverpool. 🤣

After all the disappointments we've got from signing from German League especially Borrusia, I don't think we are missing much. Hope he has a good season at Real.

Just read Raya is going to Tottenham. I thought he was a target for us at a reasonable price too. We need to sort our sale and begin to complete our transfers. Everybody is getting their targets.

£113.5m was more than I expected.

Lmao. People don't understand the idea of pricing in football anymore. Similar price to Haaland "real" price.

Isn’t it £88m plus add-ons? That’s not too high for the current market I don’t think?

Some other recent exports from the Bundesliga:
De Bruyne
Firmino
Thiago Alcantara
Haaland
Gundogan
Akanji
Guardiola

Maybe previous league someone plays in isn't a predictor of their quality?

...to build on my previous point, maybe the correlation we see when examining Bundesliga players coming to the Premier League is that when they are bought by clubs that are good at profiling players and identifying a good fit, they're more likely to succeed, and when they are bought by clubs with dysfunctional recruitment operations, they are more likely to fail.

I reckon Real would still have the money to buy Mbappe if they really wanted to. They had the cash last summer and it wasn't spent in the end. They need to replace Benzema so maybe they're more urgent to get him this time around.

Didn't MBappe reply to some tweet saying he isn't moving this summer and is happy at PSG. Of course he could be talking rubbish but maybe he wants 1 season without having Messi and Neymar before he moves to Real for free and gets a huge signing on bonus (didn't he get one of those last summer too).

If they pay that then he has been a HUGE success.

It's such a lazy and stupid excuse that players will fail simply because of the league they're from.

City had 4 players in their starting line-up in the CL final who were bought directly from German clubs.

Or he isnt instigating the move to ensure he gets a pay off when Real bid

If you believe some journalists in Germany they mentioned talk of a £20m payment to his dad a few weeks ago.

Clealry Raya wasn't a target, otherwise I fancy we'd have got him at that price.

Just nonsense.

Any club signing him would have been mega rich, and therefore accused of bunging the dad and hiding the true cost.

Sancho became the mother of all flops after looking great in Germany so I'm not too fussed over Bellingham.

I'm glad Sancho went to United.

posted on 14/6/23

Sancho isn't a flop. He has depression. It happens.

posted on 14/6/23

I am still not sure what to make of Bellingham but a move to Real will certainly be better for him than to a prem team other than City.

His old man is also taking a cut just like Haaland's dad did.

I know theres prob hidden fees all over but from Dortmunds perspective the fee is disappointing surely,? didnt they get 135m euro for Dembele years ago? Doesn't seem to have been a clause in there or anything?

posted on 14/6/23

Actually bbc say it was 135m gbp

posted on 14/6/23

so to get 22m less than what they got for Dembele 6 years ago for a much better talent/player seems like poor business for Dortmund.

We were interested but possibly we are waiting to see what happens with Henderson and De Gea or have other targets.
