Ukraine was wall to wall when it first started.
Migrants have been in the news for decades.
It's all what's hot and what's not, for lack of a better phrase, when it comes to the media.
No, but this is the kinda stuff that you would see in a Movie.
Like... right now they are saying that there are only 20h of oxygen remaining. It is dramatic.
thats cos people are more interested in reading about billionaires in the news rather than normal poor people.
blame the poor people !
Nickasaurus, yeah I get all that, but it's the media who makes it hot. They are creating this as a massive story. Five deaths is very sad, but it's relatively nothing compared to what else is going on in the world.
If the media believe that all we "little people" care about is a story related to a ship wreck 100 years ago; well either they are pathetic or the general population is appalling if they are correct.
The Chilean miners and the Thai divers were massive stories at the time as well.
I don't think it's that this involves very rich people. It's just that it's (for want of a better word) dramatic, and very unusual.
Hey, OP, these are rich white first world people we're talking about here, have some compassion ffs!
its because of the novelty of it, if people were always dying trying to reach titantic it wouldnt be plastered everywhere.
school shootings and dead bodies in the sea isnt that unsurprising in comparison.

They have my thoughts and prayers
The story would be equally newsworthy if it was a group of Africans in the sub.
Its the same in football. Players going to Saudi are greedy, dodgy Arabs, bad career moves etc etc
Messi going to MLS with all those sponsorship deals is being hailed a victory for white football.

wtf
Ironic thing is BLM has gone bankrupt after blowing 80m. Remember a time when people were outright called racist for not supporting the BLM movement and now it's clear to all it was a total fraud of an organisation.
The money trail is actually embarrassing and I've no idea how they were allowed to blow so much with so little accountability.
The England national football team is a 153 year old disaster but they still report on that.

Somewhat ironic that one of the founding principles of Inter MIami was the diversity of employees to reflect the society they lived in hence the preponderance of hispanic players and staff.

This article makes the automatic assumption the people on board the sub are rich, and therefore are not Black. We should be careful not to perpetuate stereotypes like these.

No assumptions needed. Those on board are clearly known (including 2 British-Pakistanis, this isn't about race).
My issue is people die in horrible ways every day, for instance just 5 days ago somewhere between 35 and 45 children were murdered in an attack on a school in Uganda?
The exact number isn't certain in the West because journalists don't care, because they think we the people don't care and the sad things is they are right. 5 adults who knowingly put themselves in harms way are of far more concern than 40 odd children.
Oh and yes I've now changed the article name from my original click bait.

No they haven't.
Also, there's a difference between the 'movement' BLM, and the organisation. And yep, if you didn't support the movement, you were/are most likely racist.
To be fair, this is people who MIGHT still be alive when found, think of those Columbian minors who were trapped for weeks. And that plane that disappeared.
But yes being white and rich garners more sympathy in the white and rich owned British press.

Well done.
Regarding your other post, I had no idea about the identities of the people on board, because I've barely paid any attention to the events. I'm one of the last people to consume that kind of news. Having devoted part of my former career as a translator to humanitarian causes, I'm well aware of what gets pushed by the media. It's also a vicious cycle, though, because the general public does click more on news that is either closer to home and/or involves people whose lives they are curious to know more about.
There's also only so much bad news people can take in without developing a feeling of despair that nothing can really be done.
One of the big reasons the submarine case, like the miners' or cave kids' cases gripped the public attention so firmly is that the people were still thought to be alive. There was a hope those lives could be saved, and very often it's that kind of uplifting stories people need to restore their faith in humanity.

So being married to an Ethiopian women I, along with plenty of people of colour, are racist? 😂 give your head a wobble ffs lol funniest thing I've heard all day, and for this place that takes some beating. You are next level stupid. Typical far left approach. Someone disagrees.... label em racist or a facist
And the BLM org has indeed filed for insolvency after blasting through 80m. And I'm racist for not wanting to support the black leaders need to buy mansions in the exact same 'white' suburbs she protested against. And it's racist to highlight that? What a toolbox 😂
Her brother got paid millions for security to look after the mansion, despite having no security background. But sure....nothing to see here lol
