We have been moved from the League One boards to the Championship. I should be elated and was enthusiastic about the new season but after the events of the last two days am now feeling a little deflated. The Championship is always a tough league. We now have no manager, only fourteen registered players, £65 for replica shirts and possibly the highest priced season tickets in the league.

Either Ipswich or Rotherham at home Boxing Day which we'll lose 2-1 to the former or 0-1 to the latter

I have to say the sacking/mutual parting of the ways with the big man seems bizarre as an outsider. Was there discontent with him at board level as having met the guy when he did an end of season presentation years ago for my sons team, he is a top bloke….. plus he got promotion when you were dead and buried after the 1st playoff leg. Would be interested in your take on it?

As for us, realisation of fixtures tomorrow and moving into the Championship listing on here makes me want us to bounce back up straight away even more.
Lots more games to play through the season, Friday nights on Sky? Plus the pressure to think up a new terrace song/chant for Enzo….
Cannot wait!!

I don't think we will ever find out the truth to be honest. All Wednesday fans were shocked at the news. Chansiri (our owner) is reluctant to comment but did hold a fans forum last night which had been arranged for a while. He certainly hinted that it was more Darren Moores decision than his. Plenty of rumours going around that Chansiri has said that we need to be making the playoffs whereas Moore said a successful season would be staying up (I agree). It also sounds like we would only be bringing in free transfers and loans. I admit that I wasn't Moores biggest fan. He didn't seem to have a plan B and some of his substitutions were often a little odd. It's also important to remember that we were second in the league at one stage with games in hand on the top and were absolutely flying on a 23 game unbeaten run. The wheels then came off and we stumbled to third place when we had been well set to go up automatically and many believe we should have given the squad we had.

As you say, Moore is a very likeable bloke and will always be a hero for picking the team up for that playoff semi-final comeback and getting us past Barnsley in the final. However, that game could have easily gone the other way so I think his position was already being looked at as I think the owner expected a much easier return to the Championship than we managed.

The Championship looks the toughest I have seen it for a long time with Leicester, Leeds and Southampton all being teams you would expect to do well. I honestly think that 20 of the 24 teams will be targeting the playoffs or better which just shows how competitive it really is.

I think you may be pleasantly surprised when the bookies favourites do badly. We have a guy with little managerial experience in the hot seat. What he has was not good and he has nothing relevant to the Championship other than a stint as a player with the Baggies. He wants to play like Man City but won't have the players to do it. We have an utterly incompetent DoF in overall charge. Our owner is a shadow of the man mountain who drove us to success (Vichai); to find out why we got into a financial and football mess he has appointed the two most likely guilty parties to carry out the review.

We are several weeks behind the rest of the Championship with our summer schedule. We will need to dispose of most of the team. We will unlikely get a squad together in time for them to gel and hit the ground running. We have a trip to the far east just before the start of the season.

The list goes on. I'm going to stop now because I'm depressing myself even as I write. I can but hope that the above is utter codswallop and I'm hailing Rudkin as a genius when we breeze into the Champion's League spots next season having scored a record points total this season to secure the title playing fantastic football (Arteta and Kompany have come good therefore Maresca must also do so. Surely?)

We can but start to dream but will probably end in a nightmare
