Ronaldinho was better cause I had the privilege of seeing him live. Maybe Carlos otherwise though I've never seen him play.
Carlos, brilliant player.
Ronaldinho was a genius. Carlos couldn't defend. He was the slightly more tanned but naturally yellower TAA
Easy to go for the indulged, outrageous entertainer. Was never an unlikable nob like Neymar but you could man mark him to reduce his impact. He had real respect and players never halved him as often as his tricks might have merited. Pumped birds instead of relatives.
I just referred to my comprehensive list of the top 50 players of all-time, and Ronaldinho is 27th.
Only one place below the legendary Hungarian, Sandor Kocsis.
Roberto Carlos did not make the top 50.
Ronaldinho is way more influential to me. Man's bag of tricks is being used by the next generation of players
In fact, I would go as far as saying that Roberto Carlos was pretty crap. Much like TAA. But will be remembered for kicking the ball far or hard a few times. Very similar players

There's 100s of top 50s all different. For entertainment only he would be top 5. I know its not how these lists are defined but he was pretty unique.
Kind of apples and oranges, but even so there's only one winner and its clearly Ronaldinho.
Roberto Carlos was great, and fun to watch. But I've always felt there was sort of a 'cult figure' element which skews opinion a little bit with him. If I were to make a list of best full backs over the past 30 years I don't think he'd make my top 10 tbh. In fact I don't even think he's the best Brazillian left back in that time - prefer Marcelo.
Ronaldinho by some way. Probably the most naturally gifted player I've seen play. Loved to watch him play. Imagine what could have been if we'd stumped up the extra £1m.
Entertaining enough in the pro game - imagine being able to watch him on the beach with his mates? Insane!
Had to one star this, there's no comparison
Debate who was the better player out of Ronaldinho & Carlos?
As good as Roberto Carlos was there really is no debate to be had.

Ronaldinho was very evidently the more talented player, that's not even up for debate.
As full backs go, however, Roberto Carlos was well ahead of the curve. A lot of people still hadn't understood how the role had developed even when Dani Alves was crushing it for Barça on the right. They'd still regularly think the full back had been 'caught out of position' when teams exploited the space in behind, rather than understand the systemic nature of the risk, or that the mistake might have been down to the player who was supposed to cover the space vacated by the full back.
Many pundits (and therefore fans) in Britain were remarkably slow to catch on to the development, but I'm surprised to hear you in particular saying this.
Roberto Carlos was an absolutely key part of the Madrid side that won 3 CL trophies in 5 seasons. You won't find a single Madrid fan -then or now- who'd have swapped him for a more defensive-minded full back.
