Philips v Rice

It's not as black and white as who is the better player. Transfers don't work like that. It's more that Philips is black and Rice is white.

And City were still ripped off

105 for Rice and we'll let Adams go for 30 no doubt. Whilst Rice is better than Adams, he aint 3 times better.

Another corker is apparently us letting Summerville go for 12, yet we're being linked to Nat Phillips for 10 ffs 😅

Spurs are seeking £100mil for Kane who is almost 30 and he has 11month left in his contract...

Maybe some need for cash or just lack of ‘nouse’ from our owner. Or maybe everyone was happy with the deal and how it was setup.

Personally I think Rice is a much better, all round player than Kalvin. In todays market he’s worth more I think.

Eh? You got a really good deal off City for Phillips. Rice is twice the player so obviously will go for much more.

I think you did well off the Phillips deal all things considered.

If Kane is worth £100m then Rice should fetch north of £300m.

One is a proven winner with a taste for lifting trophies, the other is a complete big game bottle job who has won as much in the game as James Beattie.

Now, let that sink in.

Wasn't that a telephone vote where he got voted best?

Hardly unbiased if enough fans decide to vote on their personal favourite rather than the best.

Kalvin is good, Rice is better.

This, kids, is why you need to pay attention at school....otherwise you will not be able to comprehend even some of the most basic concepts

We did well to get 50m. Agree our transfer business is shab but 5pm felt a good decision all round for me.

Rice is a strange one for 105m when you consider Bellingham, 5 years younger went for 88m initially.

A player is always worth as much as you spend. No way is Rice worth 105m logically. But it feels a massive signing for Arsenal. A leader, versatile, quality wherever he plays whether a 6 or 8. Experienced in this league and won't have the upheaval of moving as still in London.

They could spend that on another Pepe and a back up striker. It's a superb signing regardless of cost

For me, Kalvin will never be the quality of player Rice already is … and Kalvin’s 3 years older than Rice.

Still, I take the point about our woeful transfer business.

Personally I think Rice is better player, but Philips stock was high and clearly didnt do great job at getting best price.

Phillips had been injured, not been same player.

Thought it was a little low, at the time, not much though.

Now, it looks a very good deal for us financially

Basic concept of football, winning trophies.

To assist with this kids, if you get selected for a big game, try to participate in it!!

Was literally going to say this, almost word for word

Bellingham is a better player than Rice, but went for less.

There no set rule for transfers

The problem when you overrate your own players is that you end up having opinions like this. Nobody outside of Leeds thought you didn’t get the best price, it was quite the opposite.

Seeking, Bayern will sign him in January to start next season. For free. Better luck next time Levy.

In retrospect we got decent money for Phillips, I think City would be lucky to recoup £30m now. Rice and Bellingham are dynamic players with more to their game, but Phillips is still very good at what he does best. They say a player is worth as much as someone is willing to pay for them, the exception to that is Rutter.

Rutter, JKA, Brolin ...... there's a thread all of it's own there .........

Surely all Leeds fans are now agreed that Victor Orta's successes have been vastly eclipsed by his failures but on outgoings, the Phillips transfer was the best bit of business he did for us. It's just a crime that he then pi$$ed all of that money up the wall and then some.

I regularly thank the universe that Orta is no longer with us, although I believe we will continue to suffer from his incompetence for a number of years to come.

I hope hope hope and pray fervently that Marathe and Hammond know what they're doing. The club is in a right mess. July is now crucial - they'll need to be totally on it.

Never really seen the kind of player for England that others see in KP. Not sure Southgate knows how to use him and his role seems to just be get ball from team mate from about five yards and pass it back to teammate. Doesn't do much that dozens of others couldn't do just as well.
The way Southgate has used him, rarely showing the qualities I would expect from an international. If I supported any other club, I would sincerely question why he was anywhere near the England squad.
City were mugged.
